More Cleaning

As I've said before, I FEEL better! I really feel like shouting that out at times. I still have some tired days but for the most part, I'm doing so much better. Anyways, I'm cleaning another house. We need the cash and I figure with Anna going to college in less than a year, we are going to need every penny that we can get. So I made a backpack O' clean. I put everything that I need to clean in it and I'm just bring that with me. I'm cleaning with the spray for Jessie but instead of Borax, I'm using anti-bacterial soap with the hydrogen peroxide. And then vinegar with water and a squirt of dish soap for counters and mirrors. And then last but not least, I'm using microfiber clothes(not in the kitchen or bathrooms). Just putting it together in the bag has helped so much. I just drop it in a convenient spot about midway and then I don't have to keep running back and forth to get something I need. And when I'm vacuuming my way out of her house, I keep the wet microfiber cloth in my pocket and wipe anything that I have missed. So if you have any tips that you use for cleaning, please let me know. Also, send me some prayers/good vibes that I can find a couple more houses to clean. My in laws live in a retirement community so all of the houses are ranches so it is so much easier to clean. And because I love to talk, I'm a real hit. A lot of the people are lonely so I stand around and gab for a while. And the best part is I actually feel better the next day from all the exercise. And that has never happened before.
So if you have any prayers/ideas leave me a comment.
Thanks for everything,
SonyaAnn

Green Balls

Green balls, it sounds like some kind of terrible disease caught from a street walker. I was just wondering if anyone had tried this product. I saw it on tv the other day and thought this was a really great invention, if it worked. You just wash your clothes on the spin cycle and you're done. They also said that they have on for the dishwasher, too. So, I'm once again in need of help. I was just wondering if any of you have tried it. I would trust you over some comments posted somewhere on the web.
Thanks for coming to see me and helping me out,

Little Christmas Gifts

This is a really good find. We do our monthly grocery shopping at Woodman's in Kenosha WI. There is an outlet strip mall on the way up there that we stop at every once in a while. So one of the shops is a Ghirardelli's. They have a special, all the chocolate squares you can get in the bag for $15. Den and I have found a new hobby, stuffing candy neatly in a bag. People were even asking us for tips. We stuffed 105 in the bag pictured above. If you buy one of their premade bags they give you 50 for $15. We are going to do this for Christmas and tie 3 or 4 of these together with some curling ribbon. He likes to give everyone at work a little something and this would be fun, easy and super cheap. So if you are looking for some creative gifts for the holidays check out the outlet stores. Any other ideas?

Yuck!

This blurry picture is of my big toe. I told you I'm feeling better. I have walked until my toe nail is falling off. I've heard of that with long distance runners but not with a stay at home mom. So here is my question, should I do surgery on myself? I mean I'm not going to the doctor because I'm pretty sure he would tell me I'm depressed and give me an enema. I've doctored up the dog so many times, as you all know, I'm sure I can do something to help myself. The kids run in terror when I offer to "help" them when they are sick. So do you think super sharp pizza scissors, would work? I'm pretty sure super glue, mouthwash, carpet cleaner and a penny, would do me no good. Is this TMI?

Our Homemade Pizzas

We make home made pizzas rather than get delivery, like you haven't figured it out that I'm cheap. They really are good and you can throw anything on them. I figure that it costs about $12.20 for 6 of them. So here's another recipe...
Pizza Sauce
2 can crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
6 teaspoons dried basil
I mix it all together and warm it on the stove while I get the dough going. It bubbles so don't forget the lid.
Pizza Dough
2 2/3 cups warm water
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 teas. salt
8 cups flour
2 Tbls. sugar
2 Tbls yeast
4 Tbls. Vegetable oil
Butter flavored Pam
Put yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk in a large bowl. Add
water and stir to mix well. Allow to sit for two minutes. Add oil
and stir again. Add flour and stir until dough forms and flour is
absorbed. Knead for about 10 minutes in the bowl.
Divide dough into six balls. Spray 6 nine inch pans with Pam. Using a rolling pin,
roll out each dough ball to about a 10" circle. Place in cake pans.
Spray the outer edge of dough with Pam. Cover with a plate and let rise for about 1 1/2 hours. We also like to put strips of mozzarella in the crust. Just fold it in.
When the crust has finished rising, add your sauce and anything else you can think of. Bake it at 475 for 40 min. You are going to have to check the pizzas every 5-10 minutes after it has cooked for 30 minutes. I would be so upset if they burned so I'm overly careful with them.
This will make 6 pizzas. They also freeze wonderfully. Just make it up as if you were going to bake it and then throw it in the freezer. When it is completely frozen, pop it out of the pan and just throw it in a zip lock bag. Yea another dinner just waiting for you when your super busy.

Friend's Friday

Drum roll please! And my booger for the day is......Pam's son from Mom's Mutterings. He broke his arm and had to have surgery. He is on the mend but it would be great if everyone could stop by and leave him a get well soon comment. Or maybe tell him about your own broken bone story! I would have made him a friend sooner but I had to wait until after 9/11.

Be on the Lookout

This is a good one. Chase is mailing out fliers for $100 if you open up a checking account. I've been waiting for this one. The problem we had before was you had to have direct deposit to qualify but not this one. So be on the look out! And if you know of any other deals like this please leave me a comment. I think I'm going to use this money for Christmas presents.

A College Gift

This was the gift basket that I made for Anna's boyfriend, Chris. He just left for college and we wanted to get him something useful. So I filled a laundry basket with junk food, isn't that what every college student needs? Everything was ready to eat or microwavable. And then when it was gone, he would have a laundry basket to use. He liked it but was confused what to do with the laundry basket. Guys! I told him that he better bring it with him because he will need it. Hopefully, he will use it.
This would also work for so many other events from babies to moving. If you have any other ideas, let me know. I'm always on the look out for a unique gift or an odd way to give it.

Killing

This post is going to be a pool tip and an idea that may lead to pool disaster #3. If you have a pool, then you know that you are supposed to keep gravel around it for drainage. But even if you don't have a pool and need to kill a ton of weeds, this will work. I buy super cheap weed and feed and put it on super thick. And nothing will grow, ever. So if you an area where you need to kill everything off just lay down a lot of the weed and feed.
And do you think it is possible to turn your pool into a solar oven? The water is so cold that Den and I have only been in twice this whole summer. I'll keep you posted, maybe, unless this is the final installment of the "Sonya's an idiot when it comes to the pool" series.

Friend's Friday

Today, I'm not doing a booger friend. I figured today should be about reflection. I found this and thought I would share. I am so thankful for my family, for all of you and to be a resilient American. Today is about remembering and rejoicing in our strength.

Plans for next year

I've been thinking(whenever I say that Den groans) I should plant a big garden next year. Ever since my little garden started growing in cement, I've decided to expand. This is a picture of our yard behind the pool. I took the picture in the morning but it does get quite a bit of sun in the afternoon so I think this will be a good spot. Each of the fence panels are 6 feet so I think that we(meaning Den) will probably just make it 12 feet across and I'm not sure how far out we will go. The only problem is we have a small pet cemetery in the far corner. And I'm not alright with disturbing them. Have you seen Poltergeist and Pet Cemetery? Have any ideas how to fix this with out any ghostly problems? We really don't have anywhere else to put it so its not in the way. Our yard is laid out in three sections and this area is the only place that it wouldn't look odd. I'm sure we(all of us not Den) can come up with a plan.
Thanks for stopping over and any suggestions,
SonyaAnn

Hoarders

I'm not a big TV person. I usually sit and listen to others talk about their favorite program and the characters. I just haven't been hooked on a TV series since Enterprise. It was a sad day in the Mott household when it went off of the air. *I have issues, you all know this.*
I was surfing the web and came across a new show and I think that I may be hooked. It's called Hoarders and it on A&E. I've been watching it online and on TV. I just can't understand their thinking and I may have the direct opposite disease. I love to get rid of stuff and I love to clean. I get a rush from just scrubbing things. Refer back to *.

Hairy

This is our cat, Hairy. He was a stray that somehow managed to con his way into our home. DJ is really a softy when it comes to cats and he adores him. And I think that Hairy adores him right back. Hairy is odd, has a weight problem, and is on the naughty side so he fits right in. He loves to aggravate DJ in the middle of the night. If DJ leaves his door open at night, the cat will pounce on his head and then run off. I find this quite funny but DJ says that on the third or fourth time it's not funny any more. I guess it depends on if you are on the receiving end or not.
I, sort of, named poor Hairy. When he first started coming around our house, we would set out food but he would take off if we tried to pet him. After some time, he warmed up to us and let us pet him. I called DJ outside and we all sat on the stoop petting him and getting to know him. As he was twisting and rubbing up against me, DJ asked if he was a boy or a girl. I glanced over and took a peek. It's a boy, I told him. And then he asked, are you sure? Ummm yeah, I know the difference. Once again DJ asks if its a boy. So I reply, yes its a boy, I'm looking at his Hairy balls right now. Like I've been saying all along, it's very classy in our house.
Last night, I was walking around cleaning up and DJ called out that something was wrong with the cat. Great, the dog is being held together with duct tape and super glue, what kind of surgery am I going to have to perform today. I'm sure that I could do something with a paper clip and a gum wrapper, I'm kind of like MacGyver in a make shift ER. So I call out, what's wrong with the cat? He's flirting with me, DJ said with a giggle. Flirting? So I walk into my bedroom and sure enough the cat is winking at DJ. I had to laugh because the cat turned to look at me and winked too. What can I say we are both that sexy! I was able to get the hair out of the cat's eye without super glue or any retinal scaring.

Friend's Friday

My booger friend for the day is McVal from Sew Not My Day! Just the picture at the top of her blog is worth stopping over. I wonder if that is her car.
Thanks for stopping over and have a great weekend,

PS-From McVal "Oh - and that's not my car. We drove past it on the Ring of Kerry in Ireland 4 years ago. Someone had had a really bad night the night before!"

I may have lost!!!

Den went 3 days without a "real" cigarette. He is still "steaming" with the electronic cigarette. But we are still celebrating it as a win! In the picture, it pretty much looks like the Brady bunch and the Manson family threw a party. Sweet on top and evil on the bottom(naughty thought). I was laughing so hard when I bought the decoration. And I even got him some magic cards and got 2 pizzas from Walmart. We were living high on the hog that night. I'm such a dork.

A lot of times, I'm too embarrassed to let people in our house because of something like this. I stammer a bit and try to reassure them that we aren't weird. But with you all, I let it all hang out. I pity you.

I thought the toxic sign was really funny. He loved it and the fact that I went to all the trouble for him. I still catch him looking at me with evil in his eyes once in a while because he wants a cigarette but for the most part he has been pretty good. He only told Anna that if he ever heard the radio in her car that loud again he would rip it out and DJ got in trouble for being a klutz. So nothing to far out of the norm and he hasn't tried to dismember us. Life is good!

My Checkup

I know that it is pretty boring listening to me complain about my aches and pains but I pray that I'm in the home stretch. I went back to Dr. Hult and had more tests run. And the good news is I'm on the upswing. But this I knew, I just feel better. And I can honestly say that in my entire adult life, this is the best that I have ever felt. I know I need to get the weight off and I'm working on it slowly. But the only thing that matters is that I'm better. The best that we can figure is that when I had kids the hormones fried out my thyroid(from overactive to under) and the hormones also did a number on my adrenal gland. So the two glands not working and not having any iodine and folic acid in my system caused all of my problems. And the good news is Dr. Hult reduced the amount of pills that I am on. He said that you just need a huge boost in the beginning and then to cut back and have a maintenance dose. So I will be saving about $25 a month and I only need to come in every four months now. So I feel better and my budget is super happy.
I very rarely endorse something but this I'm recommending to everyone. He does no advertising, all of his patience are from word of mouth and it takes three months to get an appointment. So I would say that he is on to something. To be honest, I was very skeptical about the whole thing when I started. I mean how can running an electrical current(still sexy) threw you, tell you what is wrong. Everything that he said was wrong with me, I looked up when I got home from the first appointment. I've learned over the years not to trust doctors. Gee, I wonder why. And I had classic textbook symptoms of each one. If someone had just listened to me in the beginning it would have made my entire life better. I could have been in the yard playing with my kids or exploring the world. I just feel as if I were robbed of so many experiences for so many years. I don't blame the doctors for what is wrong with me, I blame them for not listening to me. No doctor is ever going to dismiss me again, my spunk is back along with a bigger mouth. God save us. All of these years of suffering and the cure was an hour away. So if you are suffering and your doctors won't listen, I would seriously think about taking a road trip to his office. If you have any questions, just ask.
Thanks for being here for me,
SonyaAnn
