A new budget for all the extras in 2010

This is the budget from 2009. This is all the extra stuff that should come up during the year not our monthly budget. I just hope that we don't have too many unexpected expenditures this year. But it is still us so I'm sure that something traumatic and expensive will happen!
Anyways, this is what I started with in 2009.

Car Fund $800
Pool Fund $125
Flowers & Garden $125
School Registrations $325
Vet Fund $200
School supplies $100
School picture $200
Christmas $1100
Trip in Oct to FL $2500
Dr, ER & dentist $350
Computer $100
Glasses and contacts $1000
Car stickers $240
WI fee $65
Bdays $500
All other holidays $350
2nd mortgage fee $90
Tax Prep. $25
Clothes $100
Haircuts $100
4th July fund $75
Thanksgiving $125
For $8595.00
Everything was paid except for the glasses fund. Which will be moved to the top of the list this year. Some of the funds though were shorted terribly but we somehow managed to make it though the year. So this is what I'm thinking for 2010. We won't be taking a vacation because Anna will be going away to college and she needs her wisdom teeth pulled. That little problem should cost about $2000. I'm not above human experimentation and I said I could get the job done with a bottle of Jack and pliers. She did not think this was funny. I told her it wasn't meant to be funny, it was meant to be a solution. I guess we will be going to the dentist. Anyways, here is my starting point for the year.....
Car Fund $800
Pool Fund $250
Flowers & Garden $200
School Registrations $200
Vet Fund $125
School supplies $200
School picture $200
Christmas $1700
Dr, ER & dentist $200
Glasses and contacts $700
Car stickers $240
WI fee $65
Bdays $500
All other holidays $350
Tax Prep. $25
Clothes $125
Haircuts $100
4th July fund $75
Thanksgiving $100
House Fund $200
Anna's teeth $2000
Kids Graduation $200
For $8555.00

So I will be working on cutting corners on this but I thought that I would just let you know the starting point. This list always makes me so upset. It seems like such a huge bill. But I try to keep in mind that this list is what keeps us from having credit card debt. Some of the unexpected things in the year arent't so unexpected. The only thing that I'm worried about is the fact that I think we might be needing some new appliances this year. I think the frig and the washing machine are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just keep yelling, "Look away from the light!"
Thanks for stopping over,
SonyaAnn
I won't be around today! And there will be a change in the order that everything on this list will be paid. Anna is having emergency surgery on her wisdom teeth today. Her jaw is cracking and she is having blinding headaches so they said no more waiting. The dentist had wanted to wait until this summer to take them out but that all changed. At least, we didn't have to pay for a transmission, it was just electrical problems. Having to pay for both, would have crippled us! So I won't be around much but the love is still here for you.

kado!-I would love to have a year that comes in under budget! A girl can dream! But we aren't off to a very good start because we have had to buy tires, have electrical work done, and Anna's teeth. And its only the 7th!

Ooohh...good luck with Anna's teeth! I also had to have mine taken out in a hurry, but it was because they were starting to make my other teeth shift and that hurt!

I had 2 cut out and one pulled. No major problems. If she is having them pulled, tell her not to suck on a straw if she drinks liquids. Believe me...not a good idea. It pulls out the protective covering and leaves you with a dry socket. Trust me...not a good idea!

Let us know how it goes!

BIG HUG (((((((())))))))

Best wishes for Anna and, no pun intended, I hope everything comes out fine.

As for a budget, I do have one set up for 2010. There's not a darn thing I can do with it right now, though. For now it's just a matter of holding on to every penny for as long as we can. But it's good to have a plan for when things do break loose for us.

SonyaAnn said...

A.Marie-I had no idea about not sucking on a straw. Thank you.
I knew this expense was coming but I thought I had a bit of time to come up with $2000. Can't wait to see this bill! I'll be back to complain later. And just to make this day a better, we are having a massive snow storm! Should make for a fun drive.

Annie Jones-I'll tell Anna, all the love will make her happy!
I should shut up about my problems. You have hit a rough patch but at least you are facing it head on. A lot of people just pretend it isn't happening. You will make it. And I'm here if you need a shoulder or an ear!

Good luck to Anna and her soon to be ex-teeth.
As kismet would have it, I took my Holly to the oral surgeon on Monday to have 2 of her wisdom teeth removed. The uppers weren't descended enough without possible injury to the sinus cavity so we are waiting to do those 2. Our bill was $1175 including the inital consult. Do you have any kind of dental insurance SonyaAnn?....that should cover some of what you are paying.
The dentist/oral surgeon should tell you all about the straw thing, no spitting and such when you go. We are going back today to have the stitches removed. Holly did well since she got a rx for Vicodin after the removal.lol
Just remember, ice packs on the 1st day and then heat packs after that. Oh, and lots of MILKSHAKES...mmmmmm
Hugs to you both!

SonyaAnn, I hope every thing goes well with Anna wisdom teeth removal. I still have my wisdom teeth...does that make me really wise?

You are SO organized with your budget. I track our regular living expenses, but don't have a budget for all the things that come up. We just pay for them and eat out a little less, or shop a little less. We do use credit cards to get rewards, but pay them off every month in full, so pay no interest, ever.

I hate it when you get hit with a BIG unexpected expense. Hubby had to have surgery on his foot again and we were fortunate that he managed to have it done last year, but he has to have wound care this year and visits from a nurse and with my new HIGHER deductible and copays, the next couple of months are going to be EXPENSIVE.

I told Hubby, NO spending any money for anything else for a while!

Aww! Poor Anna. I hope everything goes well today.

SonyaAnn said...

kado!-Sorry about that. I fixed it, I think. I tried it out and it worked. If it doesn't work for you, let me know.
Have a great weekend!

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama-Thank you for the well wishes for Anna. I told her and she said she felt loved!
We had a bad night. The pain killer they gave her was crap.
I hope that Holly is doing well. Anna got all 4 of hers out and our part ended up costing $1494. Having the insurance saved us over $700. But still we have had some big expenses lately. And Den called this morning and said our less than week old tire is flat. UGH! But I'm hoping that Walmart will fix it. I'm just glad that we aren't putting this on the credit cards. I'm robbing the garage door fund again to cover the rest of it. But at least, we have it.
Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping to see me all the time and leaving such helpful comments!

SonyaAnn said...

Frances-LOL! I only got one wisdom tooth and I still have it. Does it make me a quarter smart?
Thank you for thinking that I'm proactive in the bill department. I don't think so but I like the compliments. I'm sorry about sweet knees. At least, you got most of it in last year. But it still sucks! Den just found out that they won't be giving raises for a long while and the insurances went up. I told him not to be upset because he has a job and that is all that matters.
Thank you for all the love and always being her for me!

SonyaAnn said...

Pam-i told her what you said and she smiled with her chipmunk cheeks.
The surgery went well but last night didn't. She was in a lot of pain but is doing a bit better today!
Thank you for caring comment.

Frances said...

SonyaAnn, I feel for you with the insurance going up. I got my first check of the year and it is $15 lighter, thanks to increased insurance premiums. It is only $30 a month more, BUT our deductible went up, our copays ALL went up and our max out of pocket went up. UGH! Though, I am grateful that I have a job and can afford the insurance and medical costs.

I don't know what would happen to poor Hubby if we didn't have good insurance. (And I wasn't really good at hoarding money.)

Sorry Anna had a bad night. Hope she is feeling better.

(And you are WAY more than a quarter smart.)

slugmama said...

Glad Anna is doing better today. The 1st couple of nights are bad....want me to send some of Holly's Vicodin?lol

On your expense sheet items....all I could say was $200 for school pictures??
WTF?
I'd be out in the backyard...well, maybe not TODAY....but I'd be out there with my camera taking them instead!lolol
Do you mean Senior Pictures? I think now that is what you mean.
We didn't do Senior Pic for Matt. They did the one at the school that they do for every kid for the yearbook but we didn't buy any. What a load of horseshit that was!!
If she insists on them tho, find a non-pro friend with a photography hobby to take the shots for the cost of the film and a nice dinner out or something. You don't have to pay through the nose for all this Senior Year CRAPOLA they suck you into buying.
And FYI-there will probably be a photographer at the Commencement Ceremony in the spring from the same company that has the Senior Photos deal with your school, taking photos of each kid when they come off stage in their cap and gown. They will then solicit you via snail mail to buy those photos too! We did end up buying a few of those photos(highway robbery as well but not quite as bad).
Just say no!
lolol

Frances-It is so hard not to complain and look at the bright side of life when it feels like their are tons of hands reaching into your pocketbook!
Anna seems to be getting worse. She said she looks like Quagmire from Family Guy. Trying to get her to say giggity.

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama-How swollen are you supposed to get? I'm getting worried. They said it can peak after three days but her face is huge! She is not doing well with the pain. UGH, its been a long weekend. Thank you for caring. And I'm sorry that Holly is going through the same thing but it is nice to know that we are not alone in this fight!
And yes, the $200 will go for senior pictures and DJ's 8th grade graduation pictures. And we won't be getting many of either! "CRAPOLA" may actually be the name of the company that takes the pictures or would it be Bendover and take advantage of you photographers? I had to rearrange the budget after the surgery. But I'm so thankful that I'm tight! I'm thankful for the wiggle room!
Thank you for all the love!

slugmama said...

Oh Poor Anna! I know...the swelling is bad. Holly only has bad swelling on one side, the other is fine now. She's 5 days out and still swollen. Just keep taking those antibiotics and did they give Anna any painkillers??
I'd call the dentist on Monday if she isn't any better. If the pain is keeping her from sleeping maybe they'll prescribe something for bedtime?
Holly tried to do too much too soon(like eat hard stuff...ugh!)and go to school & work too so that's why she is still feeling it I think.

"But I'm so thankful that I'm tight!"
Ok.....I am going to pretend that you 'meant' to say NOT tight and then I am going to IGNORE this sentence before I get myself in trouble.
We are the bad, bad girls afterall....lolol

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama=I found a way to help Anna. I gave her a pms pill. I think it was Premsyn. That seems to be helping. Just a thought for Holly. I just wish that I had thought of it earlier.
And you are a very, very, bad girl! I love it!!! I need to catch up to you because that naughty thought didn't even cross my mind! Perv, I'm jealous!

Frances said...

SonyaAnn, you and slugmama are naughty! I think I am a little excited! LOL!

When Samantha graduated, she didn't want Senior pics. SHE said they were a ripoff and we would just use some nice shots taken by the family. I like the idea of finding a nice setting, like a park, and doing some yourself.

SonyaAnn said...

Frances-We are all crazy! Funny but a bit off!
I know the pictures are a huge rip off! But its one of those things that I want. If I don't do it I know I will regret it. I have a thing for pictures. I try to skimp where I can but its a moment that I want to keep. Mind you we are only getting about three pictures but we have two graduations this year. I'm nuts! I'm willing to do human and animal experimentation in this house but I'll let us get ripped off on pictures. This is like a major breakthrough! Should I get help?

slugmama said...

SonyaAnn,
What's the name of that PMS drug?

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama-It's called Premsyn PMS. It is helping but it is making her a bit sleepy. Well, I think its the pills that are making her tired or it could just be the stress.
How is Holly doing? Anna is going back tomorrow.

slugmama said...

Holly still has pain on one side. Ice packs help. She's still got vicodin tho so is ok. And it's only a week since the teeth were pulled. If she is still having pain by friday we will go back and have her checked.
I wonder if Midol has that same drug as Premysn?
I hope Anna is doing better today.
Stress huh? These kids don't KNOW Stress yet.hehehe

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama-Strange how things work, isn't it? I hate to see the girls suffer but at least, we have each other to learn from.
Anna is still in pain and her face is bruised bad and unevenly swollen. One teacher said to her, "WOW, they got you good didn't they!" She said it was a little upsetting to see the horror on his face. I told her that this is just like having to wear a really bad outfit and it isn't permanent. A friend of a friend had her wisdom teeth pulled and she was swollen for a month. Den had it done years ago and he was swollen for two days and was fine. He did have some pain though but nothing like Anna. She was a mess. We found out that she has a low tolerance for pain. But being back at school has seemed to help her spirit. I keep telling her to never have kids!
Wish Holly well from me!
