A Quick Tip

This is the inside of my closet. We have very little storage space. It's awful. I'm not a collector of crap and we still have a hard time finding room for everything. Anywho, I'm not much of a girl. Who knew? But I do like to wear a necklace every once in a while. I tried storing them in a drawer organizer but they would get tangled and it was a lot of trouble to fish them out. So I put them on push pins next to my clothes. It makes finding a matching necklace super easy. I would like to get a cork board for the inside of the closet door but I don't know if they would stay because the door gets opened and closed so often. And I would probably need to get a few more necklaces to fill it. That wouldn't be such a terrible thing, now would it?
Thanks for stopping over,
SonyaAnn

I was thinking if Den had an old tie rack, you might be able to use that for your necklaces....or if you found one for cheap at a thrift store.
But if this pushpin thing is working, why change it or spend more money, right?lol

Looks like you've got a great solution there for this storage problem....other than moving of course.lol

I'm with you...I'm not much of a girly-girl, but I do like a chunky necklace or bracelet once in a while.

Our closet it just weird, so I still have mine in a jewelry box. But I like your idea.

I hang my Necklaces in my closet also. I use nails instead of push pins. I love it cause I can see all or should I say the few Necklaces that I have. Great mind think alike. :) Hope you have a great week!

It's me, your twin. hehe I do the same thing. just inside the linen closet of the master bath.

Peeking at your bed from the closet, made me feel a bit stalker-ish lol

I think this is a great idea. Hubby has a few baseball caps and he has his up on nails in the closet. Up high on the wall, where they are not in the way. Why not utilize that empty wall space?

LOL at Dawna feeling stalkerish!

slugmama- I'm always looking for a way to solve a problem. But at times, I can get carried away! Den had to stop me from cutting out the drywall in that very closet. I thought I had found some extra space behind the drywall. Ummm, no it is duct work for the furnace. Good to know!!
Sorry I was away yesterday, the kids had the day off and we went to the mall to use our Christmas gift cards!

Annie Jones-When I'm not feeling so hot about my looks, I just grab a huge necklace and hope that it draws the attention away from my face!
I would love to have a bulletin board covered with a pretty material and put the push pins and jewelry on that. But I would only be able to fasten it to the door and it gets opened a lot so I think they would just fall of. But a sort of girl, can dream, can't she?

Linda-It is wonderful that we are alike. Do you think bad thoughts, too?
It's nice just to hold a shirt up next to them and choose one. I feel almost spoiled. I just wish I had more space. Or I could just donate the ones I don't use? That would probably make more sense!

Callista-There are a bunch of smart girls here! I only have a few belts but I keep them rolled. I just need more wall space so I can get more necklaces!!

Dawna-Great minds! And you are welcome to stalk me, I think you would get bored after a while. Hell, I bore myself!

Frances-How high should I nail Den? I think that would be a perfect use of wasted space. Is there a decorating book on how best to crucify your hubs in your bedroom?

I found one of those coatracks with pegs in the "free" box at a yard sale. It's now on the inside of the door to the closet that holds the water heater. On it are hanging my mop, broom, lambs-wool duster, cloth shopping bags, iron and a bag of plastic grocery bags.
I was tired of the broom falling out and hitting me when I opened the door to get my jacket. This was a perfect solution -- and free, too.

Great idea! My necklaces are in a big heap unless Maddy fishes one out to borrow without permission...

Donna Freedman-The coat rack is a good idea. I just don't think I can shove any more into our coat closet. It always gets under my skin that I have to sweep and mop and get hit in the head by the broom/mop! We have only one closet on the main floor. UGH! Many moons ago, when I lived in an apartment, I had tons of closet space. One closet was so large that other people were using it for an extra bedroom! DJ's room now is smaller than that closet in the apartment. And DJ calls his room the cubical! Ahhh, the good old days!

McVal-I think Anna has borrowed one of my necklaces in about 5 years.
But isn't it worth Maddy borrowing one necklace, if she untangles them?
