Drunk Pam!

I've been reading The Complete Tightwad Gazette and I love it. And you will be happy to know that I saved up my swag bucks and got it for free! I don't think that you can get anymore frugal than that.
So I read about making your own Pam. It works just the same as the regular Pam and is a lot less expensive. Just mix cheap alcohol and oil(1part alcohol to 5 parts oil). We found a tiny bottle of vodka for $.99. And the spray bottle cost $1. It's an initial investment that we can afford!
The only advise that I would give is get a squirt bottle that the stream can be adjusted. It is really thick and will come out as a stream even on the "spray" setting. Just an FYI.
The reason the label is so low is that I measured out the alcohol and then used the bottom of the label as my mark. Next time that I need to fill it with alcohol, I just need to pour it in to the bottom of the label and then fill the rest with oil. Cheap and lazy go hand in hand!
I thought that Drunk Pam sounded better than just plain old knock off Pam.
Thanks for stopping by,
SonyaAnn

I love the Tightwag Gazette! Is the complete one new or just 1, 2 and 3 together? What ever happened to Amy?

Good for you! I use something similar. It's a bottle actually made for spraying oil. I think they run about $10, but I got mine at a discount store a long time ago for a buck or two. I like that it's cheaper than PAM and also that I can pick whatever kind of oil I want in it (peanut oil for me).

To Marilyn, I think Amy Dacyczyn literally retired on all the money she saved.:) Every once in a while, I'll read something new about her, and it sounds like she's happy to be out of the frugal limelight.

oh my gosh why add the alcohol? I have a Misto one of my favorite kitchen gadgets actually...and you just put in your oil (I use EVOO) and pump it up..and spray! I have not bought Pam in a few years now! Love it!

my husband steals it every weekend to spray the BBQ...and I always have to go hunt for it on Monday!

Annie Jones-Hmmmmm, I wish that I had heard of this before. I'll have to keep an eye out for that.
Do you think that Amy is still as tight as she once was?

kado!-If you ever run across one of these online, could you send me the link? It would have to be on sale though. I can't help it, I just can't pay full price!

I love, love, love the Complete Tightwad Gazette! That is where I got my sour dough starter and bread recipe. (I need to make some more starter.)

I cannot believe I forgot about the fake Pam! I need to do that! We use a lot of that stuff!

I may look for a Misto, like kado mentioned.

Frances-I'm really loving the book. I'm so disappointed in myself. There are so many more ways for me to be saving!

Very cool (as always). The TG is pretty cool book, and how ironic that you got it (sort of) for free ; ).

Ok, why did our Pam get drunk? Did Frances open the bar early and NOT tell me??

Beth-I bet the library has a copy. There are so many things in there that you don't even think of. I love it!

Thanks for the tip! I had a bottle that I gought from Pampered Chef eons ago but the oil kept getting clogged in it. Now that I know... I'm going to need to stock up on alcohol. That's my story on why I'm tipsy and I'm sticking to it!

SonyaAnn said...

McVal-Any excuse to stock up on alcohol is great by me!

OMG!! I just got a chance to catch up on the comments to this post.

I didn't open the bar...it must have been SonyaAnn. When I open bar, EVERYONE will be notified.

Anything is a good reason to stock up on alchohol, especially when you still have kids at home.

you know what...I bought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and used one of their coupons they are always sending out...so I got it real cheap! I'll keep my eye open for one on-line though!

Frances-We would have so much fun! If I opened a bar it would have to have an attached hotel. Not for sex-Boo, but because I wouldn't let anyone drink and drive.

kado!-Thank you! I'll keep an eye out for it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. We have one not to far away from here.
