It's All Me!

So I have been keeping track of all of our grocery costs and yup, most of it is my fault! How did this happen and why am I admitting to it? I've diligently written down everything on the calendar. And by the way, this is a really good tip. Just write the price on the day and forget it. It is much easier to do that then to dig through the receipts. Anyways, my little trips here and there to get a "deal" are costing us the most. So I'm going to try and work CVS and Wags only when it is on sale and we REALLY need it.
So the good news is our total from the last four weeks is $454.19. We are under the $480 that we have budgeted so I'm happy with that. And I have $12 in Jewel cats, $3 in WAGS cats, and $8 in CVS cats. It is more like we spent $431.19 with the cats. I think that I can do better, I''ll let you know in another 4 weeks.
Thanks for stopping over,
SonyaAnn

Yeah, that's what happened to me. I hardly ever shop at the drug stores now. But I'll still go if I can get deodorant for a quarter, or something really cheap like that.

Annie Jones- I'm going to do the same thing go for just stuff we need. We are trying to change things up a bit but I foresee some problems. Den is an amazing cook but he can't budget. So we are trying to us both of our skills and we are clashing. UGH!

SonyaAnn, don't forget to clip those coupons and if it is a high dollar coupon for something you use, get more from a coupon clipping service. I did and you should see what I saved on my dog food supplies! A small investment netted me a ton of products at a fraction of the cost!

Stockpile when it's low to get you through to the next sale!

Baby steps baby, baby steps and you are doin' fine! Thank goodness you didn't throw me in a frugal coma! Love to hear how you are savin' money!

nancy-Thank you for coming to see me. Glad to hear about all your bargains in the pet supply department!

Hi, SonyaAnn! Glad you came in under budget. And good for you for figuring out the best way for you to shop. We don't have to get every deal. It is okay to pass them up.

Yep, that's happened to me in the past too. I am only shopping at CVS and Wags when it's a great sale. Nancy is right, stockpiling is the way to go! I save a lot of money that way.

Frances-Thank you!;)
I'm glad that you are back from your trip. I'm heading over there now to see what you did.

Pam-I have an ok stockpile. We have space issues so I try to differentiate between what we really need and just want. But I love CVS! I paid $1.68 this weekend and got back $16 in CVS bucks. Love it there!

When I first started couponing I got sucked into buying the "deals" and it didn't take me long to figure out it was costing me A LOT of my extra income. I cut it out and only bought items if they were FREE or nearly free. That helped.

Well since you don't have a Rite-Aid just stick to only doing the deals you really need. And if you have a choice between Wags or CVS, I'd stick to CVS only since the RRs at Wags expire every 2 weeks(sometimes less) and CVS ECBs take longer to expire. You have more time to use the CVS ECBs on stuff you need and not just have to use them on stuff you don't because they are expiring.

I am 6 weeks Wags/CVS sober....just got the Rite-Aid monkey on my back now....lol
Since I am NOT looking to build excess stockpile at this point to sell, I am going with an only buy what you need plan now too. No more take it if it's free even if we don't need it. It's going to be alot more boring around my house now.lol

You did great keeping under your budget!! Now check over what got bought and see where you can tweak. My May budget is going over. Thankfully we have the flea market $$ to cover the overage this month.

And GET THAT GARDEN GOING! ;-)

Beth-I think it is all part of the learning experience. You have to start out and go over board and then cut back. I'm getting there.
Have a great week!

slugmama-Alright you had me laughing again at the 6 weeks clean and sober! I can see how it could easily become a hobby/addiction!
I super love CVS. I'm doing pretty well there. I think I'm going to write Wags off. They aren't as good. Jewel is ok when the cats print. I'll keep you posted. And I'm going to keep tweaking!

Hi there! It was those little trips here and there that were costing me, also. I love Wags, still do, but what bugs me the most about that store is that their catalina machine is always broken, jammed, etc. UGH!

A.Marie-I'm more into CVS. They are more helpful and friendly but I bet this differs from store to store.
