Jessie Update

This is my poor pitiful puppy. She is 11.5 years old but I think she is doing alright. Den shaved her and he always leaves a poof on the end of her tail like a lion. He does things to entertain himself.
She has liver spots and still has a skin disorder. The good news is we know what it is. If you put it out in the universe that you need help, things have a way of coming back to you. My sister sent me an email about not using oatmeal soap on dogs that have sensitive skin because it could make a staph infection worse. Den gave her a couple of bathes in anti-bacterial soap and her skin is almost completely healed. It is so sad that she suffered for so long and it was easily cured. We went to the vet half a dozen times and spent a bunch of money and they never did cure it. Now I'm on the look out for a new vet. If only I was as easily cured as the dog.
My soon to be SIL said that Jessie should be called mangled because she is such a mess. She will fit in well!
Thanks for stopping by,
SonyaAnn

SIL? I'm assuming that means sister-in-law and not that Anna is getting married when she goes off to college. ;)

Glad you're dog is feeling better.

I'm so glad Jessie is doing better. My Alex is 12 1/2 and still has some skin and ear problems. Good luck finding a new vet. Jessie is a cutie!!

SonyaAnne, What kind of Vet are you looking for? Holistic or both traditional / holistic? Do you interview your Vets? You should, they work for you not the other way around. Ask them questions BEFORE you visit to see if they give you good solid answers or do not want to take the time to visit with you.

There are Yahoo groups with people who have dogs with similar infections - have you looked into joining a couple to see what they are doing?

Hope Jessie continues the uphill climb to getting better. She looks so sad int he picture.

I'm glad the puppy is feeling better. It sucks to have a chronic condition, even if you are a dog.
And I agree you need to hire a new vet!
If they can't even figure out something this simple...geez!
We fired our vet after a couple of incidents with them....found a great new one who is only a couple of miles further away. I'd write a letter to them after you find a new one and send a copy to the BBB too.

Love the poodle poof! Jessie looks a bit embarrassed to be so naked...
I'm glad she's doing better.

That picture reminds me of my cat.. I know that sounds silly. But we used to shave our cat like that, It was called the lion cut! We had to stop because she got to mean and the only way to get her cut is if she were under .. That cost way to much. So now I just make sure I comb her everyday!
I glad to hear your little guy is doing better!

Hugs, Linda

Poor Jessie! I suffered for about a year, several years ago, with chronic staff infections. It really sucked. I am so glad you found out what it was and are treating.

Yep. Time for a new vet. Go check here: http://insiderpages.com/browse

I needed to find a vet that did dental when our cat had an abcessed tooth. He was closer to us than our regular vet and I found out that hte excellent reviews he got were well earned.

Annie Jones-My little brother is getting married! Poor girl!
Have a great weekend!

Sheila-Thank you. I think she is cute. She is getting a bit testy i her old age though! I guess she is entitled!

SonyaAnn said...

Queenie Jeannie-Thank you sweetie!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!

seth-I hope so too!

A.Marie-Everyone thinks that it is quite funny!

Nancy-I think that we will just go with a traditional vet. There aren't any holistic vets that I've heard of any where close.
I try an google everyone's problems in this house before we go to the doctor or the vet! But that is only because they both suck! Don't even get me started on the fact that our insurance is going way up and what they are covering is going way down!
She doesn't like to be told to stay so she is pouting in the picture!

Dawna-Awww, well no one has said bless your heart to me in many, many years!!!! You are cute for saying that!

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama-I understand that a doctor/vet can't be all knowing but it seems at times that they just want you too keeping coming back in! I'm to the point now that we aren't going in unless our heads are falling off and even then I would break out the super glue first!

SonyaAnn said...

McVal-If I had to look like that I would be embarrassed too!
Have a great weekend!

Linda Robinson-Your cat must be super hairy!!!! You should post a picture. Brushing the cat every day would be a pain in the butt. But that is probably better than putting her under.

Frances-I feel bad for both of you! It just seemed like as soon as we got it cleared up, it would start all over again. It looks like it would hurt a lot too.
I'll check out the link and of course, thank you!
