The Latest Addition to our Home

Tee hee, I bet that you thought that I was going to say a little one or a pet! No here we get excited about wood. This little project cost $60 and only took Den a few hours. And the good news is I had managed to save $60 out of our flower money so it was essentially a free project. The back stoop was cement and was crumbling terribly. Of course, a huge chunk was missing right where you would take your first step up. Den was going to break it up and pour new cement but I said be lazy and just cover it. Yeah for lazy! I just wish every project around here was that easy and turned out so well(It was super easy for me because I didn't do anything!). I wonder if Den could do this to the bathroom downstairs? I think that a wood box would look great in the shower!
Thanks for stopping over,
SonyaAnn

Nice little porch.

You could line your shower with cedar and turn it into a sauna!

Yep, I was thinking a new pet. Lovely porch--too bad all home projects can't be that easy, huh?

Great porch! Send your hubby my way! How does he feel about tall ladders???

SonyaAnn said...

Annie Jones-Thanks!
Honestly, that was the first thing that I thought of! I can't even imagine the damage that all that steam would do!

Sheila-This was probably the easiest and the one project that made a huge difference. This house is just too old. There are problems everywhere and we just don't have the money to keep up.

McVal-He is pretty good with ladders. What's wrong at your house?

Yeah for easy and free! He did a good job. I like the new look of your blog too!

Beth- Thank you!
And the new look of the blog is thanks to blogger erasing the old template. I don't know why but it doesn't like me right now. I'm going to leave it alone for a few days and see if I can't reload it.

Frances-I think Den would KILL me if I became pregnant. I would just leave and not tell him!

Nice bouncing 200 lbs. addition to your family....you must be so proud.lol

The camouflage method of home renovation and repair is highly underrated!
Much easier and less costly to cover it up....demo is pretty expensive and even worse when the demo-er gets hurt...and knowing your house like I do, someone would be bound to get hurt if you were to take jackhammers to those steps.

The only time I don't recommend camo-ing is a roof....for gosh sakes, take the old roofing materials off and don't lay a new roof over a bad roof. It will most likely void your shingle warranty and it will wear out sooner than normal....at least that's what I've been told.

now you need to have a party and christen that little porch....what time should I be there??

Very Nice. It good to have a handy husband sometimes! Don't you just love the free projects well sort of free!

I like the way you update your blog!
Very Cool!

Looks great! :D

slugmama-We don't do a lot of camo here but it went really well. It makes me wonder if some of the other projects around here we should just do that and save the money.
And I agree with you on the roof! It is a huge pain in the butt to put a new roof on. We did it a few years ago and it sucked. But if you do just cover an old roof it will leak and then you will be tearing off even more layers! Yuck!

Linda Robinson-I wish everything worked out so well! It's just not our luck though!
And the new look of the blog is thanks to blogger erasing my old blog. I tried to reload everything but it wasn't having it! Just another think to add to the to do list!

SonyaAnne - do you rent Den out? I need a porch on the front of our house and I have the lumber for free! Just not the time to build it!

I like the template change - sorry I haven't been by lately, been a little under the weather!
