I Cheated Again!

We had a graduation party for Anna and DJ. I would love to post a few pictures for you but I didn't even take one! We had 50+ people and I never stopped running. I was told over and over it was a great party but not from where I was standing or should I say running. The grand total for food, beer, the "tent" and everything else that goes with it was $850. Sluggy don't stroke out, my in-laws picked up the majority of the tab. I think we spent about $200 and most of it went for out "tents". We were going to rent a tent and chairs but even with a discount(laughable) it would have been $260. Being tight, I searched for an alternative. We bought 2 carports for $78 each at Menards and borrowed the table and chairs from some dear friends who took them from their cafeteria at work.
The tents fit perfectly and no one knew the difference between a carport and a tent. I had two people ask to borrow them too. Maybe I should go into the tent business!!!
Just a thought,
SonyaAnn

I bet everyone had a great time. I think buying the carport/tents was a great idea. I know we could use those several times a year--or you could rent them out!! I hope you are getting some rest now. Take care.

Buying those tents was such a frugal idea! Way to go, I'm sorry though you weren't able to enjoy the party yourself. I hate it when that happens.

I think tents work great for parties, and very economic to use over and over again. I'd have love to seen pics, I LOVE planning parties!!! :-) Have a great day!
Blessings,
Jill

Sheila-Everyone wanted us to do it again but yuck! I don't think that we will do anything of that magnitude anytime soon!

Lisa B-If we do have another party I hope that we are smart enough to keep it small and only use one tent!

Jill-Do you like to throw parties too, how about clean up? You are more than welcome to help with that too! Just act like you don't know me!!!

Together We Save-Isn't that the way it always goes though?
Thanks for coming to see me!

Aren't you glad it's over?! Good idea on buying the carports. I don't know that I would lend them out, though. Maybe rent them. But I have experienced people "borrowing" items that might or might not be returned.

O.k. you're going to laugh, but yeah I don't mind the clean up either. I always thought I'd be good at professional organizing and planning and preparing all aspects of events. I am cursed with a type a personality... LOL

Thanks for your sweet comment on my post! I try to find as much joy in every day that I possibly can. I've seen too many good people pass away very young. I want to live my days to the fullest whenever I can :-)

Frances-I am so glad that this is over. This has been the worst summer I have ever had. Between DJ going to NW for 3 week, the party and Anna packing up and leaving. I have just run from one place to the other. It's been terrible.

Jill-I don't mind that stuff either but this was on to large of a scale! But you are welcome to come and help if I ever lose my mind again and plan another party!

Jill-And you are a very kind soul and are a very good example to everyone. :)

Ok, I am NOT stroking out! Are you proud of me?lol
I think you did fab keeping to a budget!! The car ports were genius, I tell yam genius!
If you don't think you'll use them again(gosh knows I wouldn't!lol)I'd offer to sell em to the person who thinks you should throw these kinds of parties again...lol....or put em on Craigslist and sell em. That way you'd recoup a big 'ol piece of the little bit of money you spent. ;-)
I'm glad the party was a success and you survived!!

Hang on....summer is almost over....

slugmama-I can't take much more of these kids! Someone is going to get it. It takes the entire day to do a 10 minute job. Even their friends have said things to them about helping! Two weeks and Anna will be off to college and DJ will be in high school. Then I'm going to have a mom day!
