Free Stuff & Panic

Not much is going on here. With Anna being away, it is so quiet. She was the one making all of the noise. DJ is off in his own little world of school work and video games so the quiet is welcomed and new.
I've been getting back into the swing of looking for deals and free stuff. I just wanted to remind everyone that Walmart is one of the best places to get freebies. They always ship and never sell you email address. Here is a link directly to the free stuff!
On a sad note, as you know we had to back off paying as much extra on the mortgage. I ran the numbers and all I can say is YUCK!!!! It's a 30 year mortgage and if we kept paying every other week of $658, we would have the house paid for in 2025. But because we dropped the payment down to $600 biweekly, we will have it paid for in 2030. Five years is a very long time. We are still shaving 9 years off of the 30 year mortgage but I'm still sad.
I need a drink! Is there anywhere that I can get a free one?
Thanks for stopping by,
SonyaAnn

Free drink? Go to a bar and be female. That usually works. ;)

*Off to check the W-M link now.*

Bummer. Still, I like to think of prepaying the mortgage as a want rather than a need. It'll be ok if you only do it 9 years early. And a lot of things can happen between now and 21 years that might let you resume prepayment. It's just on hold.

SonyaAnn, as soon as the kids finish college, you will have a lot more disposable income and can resume the extra payments. Look on the positive side..you are able to make the regular payments, even with all the added expense of Anna's college. You are doing great!

no worries! Anna can't be in college forever!! Once you get her college junk off your back, you can bounce right back up if not more than your usual payments...
Unless of course, the extra 5 years starts this year.

Annie Jones-Or a low cut shirt?
Thanks for coming to see me!

Nicole-I like the way that you said it, just on hold. I think I tend to be a bit negative at times!

Frances-Thank you! You should be a life coach! I'm first in line.
It just makes me feel as if we are taking a step backwards by not paying as much. And I'm not even going to bring up the fact that Den has been saying we need another car. He is right but I'm just trying not to think about it!

McVal-Did I tell you that Anna is right before DJ? He wants to go to Northwestern. UGH and Anna wants to be a teacher so that is 5 years of school which means they will overlap. I'm back to wanting a drink!

SonyaAnn said...

Dawna-So do I have to bring the family with me?

Northwestern is a great school but they have the stingiest financial aid office on the face of the planet. Seriously.

What does he want to do?

SonyaAnn said...

Nicole-He wants to go into business possibly finance. He is only a freshman in high school so it could change but he has been saying that he was going to be a business man since he was three so he probably will go for that. He went this summer to Northwestern for calculus and trig. I guess it will be one of those wait and see things. But thank you for the heads up!

Northwestern is great for business, but it is expensive. If he can get into UChicago or an Ivy League they'll be more forthcoming with financial aid. Something to shoot for, anyway! Study hard in high school to get $$.

I more yr. until I am down to 1 kid at home and no more sibling squabbling....oh, how I envy you that now!

Paying extra on the mortgage is a bonus so don't worry about not having the extra to do that now.
Things will change and eventually you'll get back to the extra principal payments....or you'll burn it down or something. 8-P

And Dawna has the best idea I've heard all day!!lol

Nicole-Thank you for all of the advice. He is in all honors classes and we had a meeting with the principal to make sure that he was on track for college. Also, Northwestern wanted a meeting with an adviser to make sure that his courses for high school were where they should be. So he is headed in the right direction but it is always something to think about. It may turn out that Anna was the easy one. That in itself is a huge joke!
Thank you for taking the time to help me and my kids!

slugmama-With my luck we will pay it off and get it just how we want it and them it will burn to the ground! That is just the way that things work around here! But you know this!
