I May Be Homeless

So yeah, I did something a little bad in the heat of the moment. Our satellite bill went from $25 to $40 a month and none of the lower channels were working anymore. You can pretty much guess how it went from there. I called and asked nicely to put it back to $25 and fix it. Hmmmm, transferred to another department and was told that I would have to pay to have someone come out to look at it but I could shut it off without a charge. And also that I was never entitled to the local channels that stopped working. I told the Dish Network employee that he was making it worse but was really selling shutting it off. So he shut it off then and there. I then asked about the $40 charge for the next month and he told me that they never charged me. Ummmm but I'm looking at my credit card statement online and yes, I was charged. That's what prompted me to call. No you weren't charged, he replies.
I was so frustrated by the time I got off the phone that I was glad that I canceled it. That was until I had to tell Den what I had done. I tried to tell him about all the money that we would be saving. Honestly, that didn't fly. He wasn't interested in streaming Hulu or Netflix either. He looked at me like I was a bit nuts when I told him the story. He would rather that I mutilated his arm than get rid of TV. I'll fix this I promised as he walked away mumbling. Did I mention that all three cars went down this weekend? The black car is still in the same sorry state as before and the brakes were almost gone in both the Kia and the Lumina. At one point, we only had one barely working car. So he worked all weekend and had no TV to watch. I'm lucky he didn't kill me!
Any ideas about the satellite,
SonyaAnn

Um, sorry, no help here. Although I don't blame you a bit for shutting it off when the satellite company was so rude to you.

If it were up to me, our TV would only be used for movie rentals. I let Kat watch more than she should (especially during summer vacation), but Shane and I don't watch enough to make it worth the cost. We watch about 1-1/2 hours a day. Yet I can't get anyone to agree with me to have cable shut off.

Also, our TV and Internet is packaged together, so if I dump the TV portion, the Internet portion increases in price. I don't gain much, and at this point, I'm not willing to give up high speed Internet.

My suggestion is to get some kind of tv turned back on for your man or move in with me! lol

My husband would KILL me if I did that.... and he watches tv maybe 1 hour every evening, until football gets here then it goes up a little. He has begged me every year to get that NFL package, but I stand my ground on that one. TOOOO expensive.
I'm the same as Annie: tv, phone & satellie is all together. When you loose one, the others go up. They really get you with those bundle package deals. AND I live in the country where there are no cable tv service choice, only sat.

Oh boy! I can't believe they were so rude to you! How RUDE!
I've done stuff like that too. Hope you don't have to sleep on the outdoor cot very long!

How many tv providers are in your area? Find some competitor that is offering a new customer deal and call them up.

If you only have the one you cut off, call back. You will get an different rep. Tell them that you called about your bill and other guy cut off your service and that was not what you wanted.

I'm sorry about your satellite woes!!
I hope Den doesn't kill you though--want to move to North Carolina? We had some issues with dish network and them raising our bill too--Kevin called them and got it straightened out. I have a feeling that if I had called, I would have gotten the run around too. Can you dispute the charge with your credit card company? Sorry about the cars too--I hope things turn around soon!! Take care.

Oh wow! What a pain. I hate having to call customer service for anything. We have DirecTV, and I'm sure I'd be homeless if I ever cut it off.

Annie Jones-We went without cable/satellite for 5 months when we flooded. We just watched a lot of movies. I'm going to go to the library and see if I can't get some Star Trek series dvds. That might help keep him a little happy. I very rarely watch tv but the boys are addicts. DJ was complaining up a storm last night. He is being an instigator!
We don't have a home phone and we get our WiFi from the neighbor so thank god we don't have a bundle!

Lisa B-He is trying to control himself with me. But I can almost see his teeth grinding as he looks at me. This won't last long. I figure that they will call me back in two weeks at the very longest and see if they can't get us back. I hope!

McVal-It's getting cold here!LOL
I'm just hoping that I can find a few ways of getting free movies. I think that the library will be my marriage saver!

Frances-That's on the to do list and cancel the car insurance. I've tried 5 times to get a quote from our agent and he won't put it together. Grrr! Somebody is always trying to get in our pocketbook!
I also want to see if maybe we can live without TV for a while. This money saving experiment is not going to end well for me!

Sheila-Is North Carolina nice this time of the year?LOL
It's odd how it always seems to go better when the guys try and negotiate things! Well at least, it works out better for them at car dealers!

Christina-Thanks for coming to see me! I really poked Den in his sensitive spot when I shut his beloved tv off. At least, I didn't take his playstation away. I would be dead for sure!

I'm with whomever said to call back and you'll get a diff. rep....prolly less of an a-hole too.lol
Or let Den handle the billing problem since he's the one who wants the sat. tv so badly. Maybe he'll get more respect since he's a guy....yep, it works that way here too.

SonyaAnn said...

slugmama-It's even worse with the boys because they know that I hate the TV. I've just never watched a lot of tv ever. So they think that I'm doing this cuz I hate it too. And I'm shocked that you think I should sign back up. Just think of all the money that I'll save. I wonder if I could use that to buy a tent. That's what Den was saying last night. TO Hell with all of our modern conveniences, let's move into a tent. Or did he mean just me?

slugmama said...

Den prolly meant YOU should live in a tent....I am sure he wouldn't enjoy a tent, unless it had cable.lol

You can always come pitch your tent in my yard... ;-)

slugmama-He loves the outdoors, I'm the problem. I don't play nice when I have to sleep on the ground!

Nicole said...

Wow, what lousy customer service. Maybe they'll be nicer to your irate husband when he calls!

SonyaAnn said...

Nicole-Maybe? The guy I talked to wasn't rude, he just wasn't very helpful but that might have been because it didn't sound as if English was his first language.
