More Fun Stuff

What are you doing with your tax return? We are lucky and are getting a good chunk back because Anna is in college. So half will be going back to pay for college and the other half to our bills.
All of this got me thinking, we did what we weren't supposed to and paid extra every week so that we would get money back. Which in turn goes for more bills or saving for upcoming bills. And I have read on other sites that so many are paying off bills with their tax returns. I love it. The thing is with all the extra taxes that we are paying, our refunds are going to get smaller. And I really don't mind helping out the government and paying down the deficit. The thing that bothers me is, we as a people are trying(for the most part) to scrimp and save to pay down our debt. Will the extra money that we pay in be used wisely? We will work harder to keep ahead but will all of our hard work be for nil.
Anyways, $2500 will go to fund these funds. I haven't updated the list since last year but it is pretty much the same. Ahh the joys of being a grown up.
Thanks for stopping by,
SonyaAnn

We'll probably pay the property taxes with it, use some for some time away on Spring break, then stick the rest in savings, (if there is any left over) for those rainy days that seem to happen so often around here.

McVal-It is always raining anymore. LOL well in our case, its in the form of snow!

I checked your list. I have a basic fear of having kids in braces and you're not helping to soothe those fears.
I am wanting to pay off at least one car. Actually, I want to pay off both but I'm sure that Fred will say no.

In regards to the govt.....You WERE joking when you wrote this, right?

I think it won't....it hasn't been used wisely YET, so why should those DC stooges change now?

Oh, the dream I have of voting ALL the clowns in DC out in 2012, getting rid of PACs and other bloodsucking lobbyists, mandating Congress term limits of 4 years TOPS, plus a slew of other improvements I have for our system.
If only I WAS Queen of the Freakin' Universe!!

@Mark..."I have a basic fear of having kids in braces and you're not helping to soothe those fears."

Well for SonyaAnn's area I'd say that Anna's teeth came in on the low side for orthodontia....heck, that amount is low for MY area!lol I have 3 kids and only 2 of them needed braces, so you've got a 1 in 4 shot at least for getting away w/out the expense for some one at your house. Most places let you make monthly payments without interest if you are lucky enough to find one! Braces are something that parents will put off and in this economy the orthdontists are hurting so I'd try bartering for braces if I was just starting on that journey...the worst they can do is say no....and if they think you'll walk, they might just make an arrangement with ya! ;-)

Mark-I honestly, don't know how we do it sometimes. We just keep scraping by.
And that money was just to have her wisdom teeth removed not braces.
Just remember to breath.

sluggy- My dear, sweet woman, YES that was all in jest. It just pisses me off that we really, really got hit this year and are in super scrimp mode. So if we have to scrape by those bastards should have to too. I know, I know get my head out of my.......

A.Marie-I, for one, will welcome our new sluggy overlord!

Sluggy for Queen for sure!

We don't have any debts to pay off, so our tax refund will go in the savings account.

Frances-My kids cost money! BRATS!

SonyaAnn....How about I make you feel better.....just be glad you don't live in Minnesota. They are talking a stte income tax hike to 14% there.
If you live there you'd get to freeze 10 months of the year AND pay more in tax....a win/win!LOLOL
I see big piece of MN's population migrating to other states if that hike passes.
But the relief will be temporary since all the states are going to follow suit. It's time to start growing all your own food and buying a gun to protect what's yours.
sigh....

sluggy-I really agree with you. Den and I argued last night. He thinks that things are going to get better. I think that with the oil problems things are going to get more expensive and worse. I guess only time will tell.
If a state really wanted to get ahead in this country, it could hold off on the taxes until everyone moved there and then up them. And if I move its to somewhere warm!

Ours will sit in savings until we know that the likelihood of a winter layoff is over for Shane.

Then it SHOULD just sit in savings forever, but it MIGHT get spent on new carpeting for the house.

We've been living on this nasty carpet full of not only our dirt, but the previous owners really dirty dirt for five years. That's five years too long!

Annie-There is always something that needs our attention or should I say our checkbook. But I did get our tax return today so I funded us though Thanksgiving. YAY

Kids DO cost money, SonyaAnn, but eventually they grow up and move out. Well, they can still cost money then, but only if you CHOOSE to spend it on them. LOL!

You could move to Texas. It's hot as heck in the summer, not so cold in the winter and we have no state income tax.

Frances-I would love to move to Texas! Anything is better than this frozen tundra!
I miss you during the day!
