I'm So Cool

So the van is a done deal. Now all I need is smudged windows, a dog with a bandanna and  soccer balls in a huge mesh bag to complete the look, oh and a lovely scrunchy for my hair. It really is a life style to drive a van.
Anyways, I know I complain a LOT about money and the fact that we have none. And while it's true that I would love to have a lot more, we aren't that bad off. I would like to say that it is all because of my penny pinching ways but Den does contribute a bit. LOL
We paid cash for the van and then just have to repay all the of "funds" that I robbed. That takes me out of my comfort zone but it is a necessary evil. It's a great deal and I have no idea how long the 99 Lumina is going to be with us. It is holding its own and it helps that we try to fix all of the problems right away. But the idea of having to go through another "Ford" is enough to scare me. LOL that's what I'm going to call any stupid money problems from here on out. From this day forward any bone headed money moves will be called pulling a Ford. They earned that one!
I just thought that I would let you know about our new addition. I'll post pictures of our new baby soon!
Thanks for stopping over,
SonyaAnn

Cars, vans whatever - they're all a money pit, but a necessary money pit. I did a great deal last November though - my daughter had an accident with our car (not her fault) but it was totalled (yes, she was fine, thank god she wears the seatbelt!) so I got a cheque from the insurance plus our $500 deductible since it was the other guy's fault. I bought the same kind of car but 2 years older and ended up putting the $2500 leftover against our line of credit. It even had 16,000 less km on it so I was really happy! I spent countless hours searching on the internet for the car but it paid off. Hope you get at least a year out of your van before having to spend $$ on repairs:)

Just a few years ago I swore I'd never drive a mini-van. Until we borrowed one from my parents. Now I don't think I want to ever NOT drive one.

Hope you like yours as well as I like mine!

Hey us minivan moms need to stick together!lol Being 'vertically challanged', I love that they put you up above the traffic.
Mine is called the 'Mango Mobile'....that's because the front license plate has my dear dead chihuahua on it. The spirit of Mango keeps me safe out there amongst the driving lunatics.....

Jane-That was just brilliant to buy the same one. I honestly, would buy another Lumina. It has been great to us. You did so good, that was one of the smartest moves that I have heard someone so. Usually, its a boneheaded money move. But to pay less and put the money towards bills-you get a gold star for the day!!!!
And thank goodness your daughter was ok.
Have a great week!

I love my Dodge Caravan. Welcome to the club! And I'm sure I look so cool as I'm crusing down the highway listening to Prince and the Revelution and singing along.
Congrats! m.

slugmama-So get this, Den texts me this morning, a car kicked up some huge something(He had no idea what it was) and he hit it with all four tires. He said he didn't have time to get out of the way. I swear if we have to buy 4 new tires and I have no car repair fund, I'll puke. He said they were fine but was going to go out there every few hours to check. Makes me nuts. Why does life work like this?

SonyaAnn said...

Annie-Well give me a while and I'll let you know how I feel about them. But I did manage to park it in a tight spot last night and didn't hit anything. It was kind of scary though. Den said that if it breaks down I have to fix it because this model is hard to work on. But I have a plan. I will take his car and he will have to drive the Lumina, that will cure him.

A.Marie-That's for the tag, I loved it.
Have a great week and you are welcome to use pulling a Ford whenever you want!

McVal-I just hope that your Ford is better to you than it was to me.
The guy that Den gave the Focus to said that it was the computer just like I had said to the Ford dealer! They didn't listen cuz I have boobs!

Mark-Thank you for the nice welcome. I personally like to jam out to Madonna though. I'm a vogue kinda girl.
Have a great week!!

Congratulations!! You are going to love it! I have a Honda Odyssey and I can't imagine going back to a car. We would never fit 2 kids, 2 adults 4 dogs and luggage in a car on our travels, lol. Enjoy!

Have a great day!

blessings,
Jill

Jill-Thank you for the encouragement. I think I'm going to take a few borrowed kids out on an outing tomorrow. Now lets see if I can part the dang thing.
