 Ahhh this is the most wonderful day of the week. And this is the laugh your ass off, or should it be Abs off edition!

Is it just me or does that contraption look like something you would use on the grill? Do you remember how John Candy said in Trains, Planes, and Automobiles that his ass looked like a whopper? Well now your stomach can too.

And this is an extra Friday and that means an extra paycheck!!! Yay for the Christmas fund!!

SIGH

I would like to report back on our new BP gas credit card. It is working out well so far. The only draw back is that it is about $.05 a gallon more than the other stations around here. We are getting 5% back so we are still coming out ahead. At $4(ish) a gallon, we are still up $.015. But since we get better gas mileage when we use BP, Den figures that we are getting 3/4 of a gallon "extra" with the better gas mileage. Trying to figure it out is making my head spin but we are still up.
BP also, lets you choose if you want a gas gift card or cash back. So it will be even more money for Christmas.
If you are thinking about getting a gas card of any type, check at the station and online. The gas station offer was different than the one online. Who would have thunk it?
But all my finagling is for null, the white car is leaking gas all over. I'm pretty sure that it negates all savings when it runs out the bottom!

My Boring Little Life

Things are as calm as I can get them. Anna is having a better time at college. She has a wonderful roommate that isn't having sex with everything that isn't nailed down so I don't have the drama there. She is still in the honors college. She wants to be a special ed teacher. She is going to need a lot more school. She wants her masters at least. SIGH. She also thinks that she found a job. It's working at a home for adults with special needs. She did work one summer with special needs kids so she thinks that will help her get the job. Fingers crossed.
DJ is doing well, he is in all honors classes and Northwestern University said that he can start taking college courses. He won't earn high school credits just college credits. I think we are going to wait one year before he takes a class. His high school guidance counselor thinks that he might be overloaded without the college course. So he is going to take the prep class for the ACT and see if he can't get a higher score than when he took it in 8th grade and then go from there.
And poor Den is panicking. He keeps saying that we should never have pushed the kids to "be smart." Haha. Also, if Anna gets that job it is off campus and she would have to work at night. Den about had a stroke. He said, "Well just great now she has to have a car." I said, "No, she can walk." Den-"If anything ever happened to her, I couldn't live with myself." He does love her, he just worries too much. If she does get the job, I think that we will let her take her car down there. But Den has a problem with that too. He thinks her car is too old and wants to give her his car. That was pretty sweet of him. I'm sure that we will figure something out. The only real problem with giving Anna the white car is that DJ won't have a car. Anna got the car in high school if she stayed on the honor roll. I can't do for one and not the other. DJ did say that he didn't want to pay $140ish a month for car insurance. I told him that that is the deal. He said he wants to drive and not pay. Don't we all!

Christmas Crap Already

I'm at a whopping $322 for Christmas. Meh! I'm still working on it. I do have a separate fund that I have set up. I'm running this Christmas thing Sluggy style. I track everything when it comes to our money but I can't compete with our dear Slugs. I've been saving the little bit of money that I get from babysitting and any extra from our normal weeks. I have $76.82 in that fund. I just want to keep the money that I got for free separate from what I worked for.
The end of last year I spent $126.92 buying little gifts that were on clearance. I used gift cards. That took care of 35(ish) people. I will add a few things here or there to supplement those gifts.
I've also been purchasing gift cards on the cheap. I've purchased 2 $20 gift cards from Chili's for $10 each. That rocks, I know and you are welcome to say so. I have 2 $25 gift cards from Boston Market that I paid $15 each for. I have 4 Rain Forest gift cards that are for $15 each and I paid $7.50 for each one. And last but not least, I have 4 On the Border/Chili's/Macaroni Grill/Maggiano's gift cards for $10 each that I paid $5 each for. I've been using deal sites like Savology and I've had help from family in getting enough. So I have saved 44% and that isn't including the other Christmas stuff that I bought last year.
I'm not sure who is getting what yet but I'm sure that I won't have a problem giving the gift cards away. So my OOP for Christmas this year is $100 and that was all free money.

An Idea

I've actually been able to save a few bucks on our electric bill. Everything that I have saved will go to the water and sewer increase but I'm not going to talk about that one. Well, I probably will but not for a while. 5 minutes, give or take.
I've put everything in one room on a power strip. Every room in our house and yours too, should have one plug that is controlled by a light switch. Everyone here but me is lazy just don't tell them that I said that even though it is true. It doesn't seem to be a bother to the boys to throw one switch as they leave a room. I wasn't able to get everything in DJ's room to plug into the one plug with a switch so I plugged everything that is a huge drain(tv, games systems) into a power strip that you can shut off. Just don't do it to your clocks!

A Bit of This and That

I have another $20 for Christmas. Yay, Toluna! I'm not qualifying for as many surveys as before but it still is going to make a nice dent in Christmas. I really do think that I will score a totally free Christmas next year. So I'm at $239 for the year. I also have quite a few things purchased already.
Our damned village upped out water and sewer bill by 50%. I hope all that voted to up the water this much get crabs. Our water bill will now be about $75 a month and we live right by Lake Michigan!
And I am  now officially married to an old man. Den pulled in the driveway the other day with the radio blaring. He was listening to AM talk radio. Not sexy!

A you know, I'm always trying to find a deal. I got a $25 gift voucher from inspiredsilver.com for $2. I was going to get some cheap gifts for either Christmas gifts or little birthday gifts. Anyways, I decided to get myself a wedding ring. I have two "real" rings. The first one Den got when we got engaged. And the second one is much bigger and still very nice. The problem is I never wear either one. It wasn't the ring or that I was embarrassed of him, as has been pointed out, it is the fact that I crush or destroy rings. And I'm not kidding. I hate having to worry about something that is worth so much money dangling on one finger. So I found that I stopped using my hand so that I wouldn't have to worry about the ring. I know it sounds crazy but it was just too much for my mind to remember so I just shut down use to that hand. I know I'm crazy. But I really do like being able to use that hand.
So me being cheap I came up with a solution, buy a super cheap ring and crush the shit out of it. Just let me say that ring is a lot tougher than it looks! So for $2 I got a wedding ring and two sets of earrings. I was happy, Den thinks I'm nuts that I would want a $.67 wedding ring. All the women in his family are very, ummmmmmm...........materialistic. I said he should be thankful.

Christmas Experiments

 This is Den's little experiment. Remember the chive vinegar, it is a huge hit here. Den wants to try and make basil vinegar.

And this is what it looks like. I'm not sure if this one will work or not, I will keep you posted. He wants to make little gift baskets for Christmas instead of the little gifts that I get right after Christmas. One guess who's will be cheaper? And one guess as to who's will be better? Making gifts will bring us closer together, right?
I've sort of got $239 saved for Christmas. I spent $30 on gift cards so I'm not sure how to keep count. I got a really good-deal-half off!
I think that I will keep posting how much money that I have even if I spend a bit from the pot. So $239 for free isn't bad! I also have close to $350 from my credit card. I have 3 gift cards coming from My Points. I also, changed energy companies so I have a $50 gift card coming and a $10 gift card from Bank of America. BofA sent me a thank you note and said call them for a free gift card. But I'm not counting any of that until it's in my cheap little hands. But this may be why they sent it.
I wrote before about how my Marathon credit card gave me 5% back in the form of a gas card. Well that went bye-bye. I did find another credit card that will give me 5% back but it took 3 days of searching to find one that would fit our needs. It's a BP credit card. The bad thing is BP is a bit more pricey but we get better gas mileage with them so I hope that it will be a wash. The good thing is they give gas cards and cash as rewards. I think that my Christmas fund will be full much faster this year. And I bet that next year will be completely free and that is my goal!!! I'm doing the cheap happy dance!

This is a really bad picture but it doesn't matter. Yes Mark, I posted a crappy picture on my blog. This would not happen on his site but I'm not perfect. Please just go with it.
Wait what was I going to write about. Oh yes, this is the easiest and most tastiest thing ever. One of the women that my husband's Aunt works with made this up. Bless that woman, who ever she is.
Eclair Cake!!! Yes, it does sound yummy, doesn't it? Honestly, the picture is a damn shame. I was in a hurry and going to take another one but it was too late.
Here it is.......
One box of graham crackers
One large container of Cool whip
One container of chocolate frosting
Four (sm) boxes of instant vanilla pudding

Place one layer of graham crackers on the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Make all four boxes of pudding, I left out a quarter cup of milk for each box. But it really doesn't matter because this is a very forgiving recipe. Once the pudding is made, mix it with the Cool whip. Spread half the Cool Whip/pudding mixture over the graham crackers. Place another layer of graham crackers on top of the Cool whip/pudding mixture and then spread the rest of the Cool Whip/pudding mixture on top. Melt the frosting in the microwave, it needs to be the consistency of chocolate syrup. Pour the frosting all over the mixture and spread it quickly. Refrigerate! WOW!

Farmer Sonya

I'm always up for an adventure, well in the bedroom(like so many of you) anyways. As I have stated in the past, I have had some plant problems. I was excited though when Den found an actual ear of corn. It looked normal though it was a bit small.
I even told him about D.Lynn's comment about the nuclear power plant. We were having friends over for dinner and grilling corn so Den threw "my" corn on too. So when our friends came over I told them about "my" corn. We all had a good laugh.

Hmmmm, after it was grilled and shucked, the poor thing just didn't look right. And it was decided that I should eat "my" corn. Well, how the hell did this happen? I was more than willing to share. So everyone sat there and watched as I ate my power plant corn. I can honestly say that I had never felt such trepidation over food in my life. I actually had to pause and psych myself up to eat it.  Scary!
In the end, I ate it as if nothing was wrong just to defend my corn growing skills. Everyone got a good laugh and then went back to eating. I was left with a problem. It tasted like corn which shocked the hell out of me. What I didn't expect was that it was nothing like the consistency of corn that I have come to know and love over the years. I can say that I was never a paste eater in school, EVER. But if I were to start eating paste, it would be exactly like my corn. As inconspicuous as I could, I had to use my lip to try and "wipe" the corn paste from my teeth.

I Happily Caved

 Well for all my bitching and moaning, I guess we are going to Vegas. Come to think of it, I don't know why I complained so much. Oh wait, the money. I guess we will just have to win while we are out there.

 It looks as if I will be in charge of the Bachelor and Bachelorette parties. That was enough to get me to come around and stop complaining. I'm not sure if I ever told you but I throw one hell of a bachelorette party and that was around here. God only knows what I can do in Vegas. Did I mention that my brother and his soon to be wife went to private Lutheran schools and are well.....sheltered. We are going to call this an awakening. The last Bachelorette party I threw security was involved, also the police(do not try to give a real officer money and tell him to strip), our 6 foot penis was stolen and retrieved and the strippers asked us to party after wards. Oh and I stepped in puke the next morning. Also, one of the girls woke up with a broken finger and a bruised tailbone. They still talk about it til this day. I have set the bar very high but I am up to out do myself.

I hope to end up in this picture.

My Boobs Ruined Another Post

I wish this was made completely from things in my garden. One guess which one was from the neighbor? Yeah, it was the tomatoes. All of the praying for more tomatoes isn't really helping either, I personally think that some of you aren't trying hard enough but that is a post for another day.
I cut up tomatoes, chives, celery leaves(by the way I'm totally in love with-sorry Den), cucumbers(not from my garden though I did try to grow them too) parsley, dill and then I poured chive vinegar over it. Yum! This is just a reminder to appreciate the summer's bounty. Hmmmm, maybe that's what I should name my boobs. Kinda sounds like the title of a romance novel. I usually call my boobs, Guido and Nunzio. Is that TMI?

My Limp Stalk

And here is my bounty for the week, one small cherry tomato and one ridiculously small tomato. It is the size of a pea. I need to give up. I told you I was having problems. 

These are my lovely and weak corn plants.

I'm not sure why but my corn is growing without the husks. Again, I have no idea why God thinks its funny.
