Who To Blame?

Maybe it's me or maybe it's Den. I think Den. You would think after 17 years of marriage I would know how "to work him" to get him to do something. One of us is slow.
We have an extreme amount of DVDs and VHS tapes in this house. I don't like an extreme amount of anything in this house but money and cleanliness. But I have let this go because if I complain too much, I get "well if SOMEONE hadn't shut off the satellite we wouldn't be having this problem."
I like everything to have a place in this house. I'm borderline OCD about cleanliness and tidiness. I have been begging Den to go through the movies and donate the ones that he doesn't want. If it were up to me I would donate almost everything in this house. I HATE STUFF! That mentality scares everyone here. Cuz I will pitch any shit that isn't put away. I'm classy.
Begging Den to go through and pick the movies he doesn't want wasn't working. The he came up with selling them at the porn pawn shop. I would agree with anything just to get him to get rid of stuff. Then the light bulb came on, instead of nagging him to "declutter" how about getting him to sell stuff at the pawn shop. And we could use the money for Vegas. I may get my wish and he will get rid of all of our crap. I just need to find a way to word it so he takes the Christmas lights off of the house. How about, if you take the lights off of the house it will sell faster and we can use that money for Vegas?
We may end up panhandling. We decided that we both want to be professional gamblers when we grow up, we just need to win.
So after 17 years of marriage, I now know Den's language. It's slot machine lingo.
And on a good note, I booked our flights to Vegas in June. It was free. The car and the room has been paid for with winnings. Now we just need gambling money and food money. Selling the stuff in DJ's room should cover it. OK, OK I'm just kidding. Den on the other hand.....
Do not follow my lead,
SonyaAnn

Don't forget the metal recycling center. I took an old electrical extension cord that didn't work any more and got $25.00 dollars for it! I now take everything including old Christmas strains of lights.

I hope the pawn shop buys it ALL!!!!!

Do they take teens too? Can you sneak DJ into the stack of dvds?

@Momma has spoken. $25.00 for a broken extension cord? Do new ones even cost that much? Seriously, I want to go to your recycling center!

SonyaAnn, way to go with getting rid of stuff. I can't believe that you still have VHS tapes in your house. What's up with that? Even DVDs, these days, make me laugh a little bit.
I'm thinking that you should be taking more photos and posting them here.

@Mark - We still have VHS and DVDs in our house, too. I still have some vinyl records, a couple of cassettes and a few CDs. We did, however, get rid of the 8-track tapes and the video discs.

@Sonya - Are you selling your house? Or did I read that wrong?

Mamma has spoken-Holy hell, I'm going to start looking for some cords. That is awesome!!!

sluggy-I would like to sell Den too. Maybe Mark would be interested, he is slightly used.

Mark-I turned off the satellite so I let them buy VHS tapes for next to nothing so they had something to watch. And now I regret that. Now everyone around here seems to be shutting off the cable. They raised the water so much that something had to go.

Sheila-Happy dance! Or is that the drunk dance?

Annie-I wish that we could get out of this house! Nope, we are here for the long hall.

We still have vhs tapes, too, as well as a lot of dvds. Hubby loves them. But I used to have a lot more when I sold video, so I won't complain too much. LOL!

Glad you and Den speak the same language after all these years.
