Ok, I am going to complain now....what's new, right?lol

How come NOBODY makes bread the real way anymore? What is this fascination with bread machines? OMG! Can no one knead dough any longer? It's getting so bad in this civilization that we don't use our bodies....not even to mix and knead some dough? The day we all wake up with no ARMS any longer is coming because we refuse to use our bodies at anything approaching physical work, isn't it?

Now I'll get hate mail from all those who have jobs and just can't find the time....well you CAN find the time! Get up 10 mins. earlier in the morning to mix the dough and let it rise while you go to work. Come home, knead it right away and form into loaves or rolls or whatever, let it rest again and then shove that shit in the oven and it's bread! And it won't have a big ass HOLE in the middles where the bread machine hook was when you baked it!

And pretzel rolls....really?
The only thing that makes these PRETZEL ROLLS is the baking soda/water bath brushed on the top so that the top of the roll browns darkly. Nothing in the roll recipe is different from any other bread recipe.
GEEZ....

But they do look good. lol

Hehehe, laughing at slugmama because I don't make bread any more either, not even with a bread machine. IF I make bread, it comes into the house frozen......

mama has spoken--lol....that reminds me of Subway and how they claim they "bake their own bread".
Riiight! They truck in frozen dough rolls and throw it into an oven....that's artisanal bread making now.lol They "cook" the bread but it's still being made in a factory and then frozen. So much better than the other sub shops that bake the bread in the factory and then truck it into the shop not frozen, right?lol

SonyaAnn is gonna ban me for being such a bitch today on her comments.
I'm off to take another painkiller and go hold a pity party for my face.

I still love ya SA....

sluggy-Ummmm, are you alright honey?
So are you not happy with me posting about pretzel rolls or are you pissed at the woman that I linked too? Because I would much rather you be mad at her!
Maybe a nap and a drink would set you straight or are you in need of Metamucil?

Sonya Ann said...

Mamma-I hate to say it cuz sluggy might find out but I would love to have a bread machine. I would buy it used though. Maybe that would help with not pissing her off so much!

sluggy-I love you and everything you do and everything that you say is perfect and beyond the comprehension of most mere mortals.
Are we cool now?

SA--We are ALWAYS cool and down and all that hip stuff!

I just have free floating agitation in my head and the whole "it's too difficult to make bread how civilization has made it for eons" thing drives me nuts!
Sometimes that building a better mousetrap mentality we as a modern society have is NOT a good thing or a productive way to use our time.
And pretzel rolls.....I read about them online and it seems everyone things they are this new thing that has never been done before. It's just bread people....same old bread we've always been making. But they brown the tops with a wash like they use on pretzels. It's nothing new.....they just form the dough into loaves or rolls not a pretzel shape. But because people are so gullible, a store can do a pretzel wash on a roll or loaf and now charge MORE....because it's PRETZEL BREAD! Doesn't anyone else see the ridiculousness of this?!?

See? I am going off on a rant yet again, trying to explain myself.
Just ignore me when I do this, ok? Everyone will be alot happier if they just point at the crazy woman and continue to move along. ;-)

I'm not mad at you or the other lady with the recipe.
I'm just raving about the general state of our culture....

sluggy-I think that I will just pray for you for a while.
Yes, we all have things that piss us off to no end. Den was all worked up about politicians. Now I know everyone has an opinion about welfare but Den went off on how the politicians take way more but no one talks about that. Maybe you and Den could get together make bread and talk about all the things that make you nuts. I'll watch from a distance.
