Brass Monkey

Not really a brass monkey but is the song stuck in your head? If you would like it to be, go here. Damn, now it is stuck in my head. That funky monkey-BRASS MONKEY!
Ok that is enough of that. Den has a little side job that he has been doing or would it be a hobby. I'm not sure how to categorize this one. He buys brass from garage sales and then recycles it.
He paid $22 for all of the things above and he got $33 back. Not a great hall but it really makes him happy.

Christmas Fun!

Back to a little Christmas naughtiness!

I scored a Shaggy D.A. DVD for free from Disney Movie Rewards. It's a free rewards program and is pretty easy to earn one or two free gifts a year. So I have a movie to add to my ever growing list of crap gifts..........

The gifts that I have look a little something like this..........................
1 $25 Bass Pro Shop Gift card(free)
4 $25 Amazon Gift Cards(I paid FULL PRICE)
2 $10 Boston Market Gift card for $10
2 $10 Chili's gift cards(free?)
3 felt hats  at $1.93 each.  $5.79 for all(50% off)
2 Christmas bells at $4 each. $8 for all(50% off)
1 Shaggy D.A. DVD(free from Disney Movie Rewards worth $7.50)

11 cookies jars at 6.39 each. $70.29 for all(70% off)
I've spent $222.88. If I had paid full price, it would have been $540.38. I'm at 58.75% savings rate.
I also got my $200 American Express card. I converted some of the free Christmas cash into a prepaid card. So I'm hoping that the free $25 gift card is soon to follow.

My Life Summarized in a Few Movies

I normally don't change my stand on something but I'm at a crossroad. I have always thought that it was best to do everything possible to pay off your mortgage. Anything from washing out baggies to reusing dental floss, OK I'm kidding on the dental floss but save your pennies to pay down your debt. We have done everything that we were supposed to. We pay cash for our cars, we have no credit card debt(I'm not counting the appliances cuz it shouldn't be much longer!) and every extra penny has gone to the house. We have given up a lot. Well given up a lot compared to many-we don't eat out, we don't buy new things and we don't waste.
I have been going through our bills again. Mind you I keep an eye on everything daily/weekly/monthly. We don't have a lot of bills but it brings joy to my heart to get the ones that we do have, down even farther. I wanted to get our car insurance down which I could by switching home owners. That would save $300/yr. Plus Anna had an accident and it will be off our record in Sept. so that will save another $200. Which in turn brought me to our mortgage. And then to my current state of turmoil. We could refinance and save $100 to $200 a month. But we have lost so much in equity that we would be back to paying PMI which would probably be $50 a month. So it would depend on how much we would save as to whether or not we do it.

And that brought me to a very sad thought, our town is getting to be so bad that there is no way we could retire here. Den says we would get to live Gran Torino. Everyone complains about where they live but we are having a terrible time with gangs. There has been quite a few robberies and a high speed chase just down the road. I give the police credit, they are fighting the good fight but we are all losing. There was a 40 person gang fight down the road about a year ago. One gang member hit another gang member in the high school parking lot at the kid's school. Sad. These kids are ending their lives before they even start.
So that brings me back to my original thought, is it wise to pay down a home that is losing value and that we won't be able to stay? I'm really starting to think that we should save the money in a savings account. I can't believe that this is even a thought with us. Things must be bad.
My life is a string of sad movies!
What do you think,

The Mother of All Frugal Saving Sites

Calm down just calm down. I don't know which of us is going to get more excited, you or me. I found Bill Shrink. Ok so maybe I wasn't the first person to FIND them. But I'm not going to discredit myself either.
That is the most amazing site! You give them all of your bill info and they compare so many different companies. What would take days of work and research is compiled in just a few seconds. I many wet myself!
I found out that I am overpaying on my cell phone bill. I'm not sure if I'm going to switch or not but it is worth looking into.
This maybe one of the greatest days of my life and yours too.
You are welcome,
Sonya Ann

Best Money Saving Tip Ever!

Ugh, this is the best tip that I have probably ever posted and it was Den's idea. He is an evil genius. Well, he is evil. See I like to give him compliments every once in a while.
We have a BP credit card and we get 5% back on all gas purchases. I'm pretty sure that everyone knows that by now since I post non-stop about how I use that money to fund our free Christmas(hopefully).
BP also gives you $.10 to $.20 off a gallon if you purchase a car wash. The car wash is $5 for the cheapest one. If I purchase 10 gallons, I get $2 off and the car wash only costs me $3. It's a great car wash and the $3 is well spent in my opinion. It takes me hours to wash the van even with the kids complaining help. It's worth it to avoid the fights. I get the car wash once in a while as a treat to me.  My life is sad and that just proved it.
Here is the evil genius part, Den said that we should bring all the cars at the same time. If we filled each tank with 10 gallons(my van holds more than 19 gallons, the cars hold around 12-I think. So we would save even more than this) and we have 4 cars, we save $8. With paying for the car wash, we would save $3. But we would also get 5% back with the BP card and be saving $.20 a gallon.
There isn't much you can do to save money on gas other than air up your tires and take the junk out of your trunk. But this one really will save some money when you fill up.
Now to coordinate a time so we can all fill up!
I have gas,

Fabulous Friday!

I found another place for all of us to waste our weekends. Yeah I know, just don't stop by my site on Friday and you will be able to get something done. I'm really hoping that all of these crafty people will wear off on me. At least, I am able to hide out from the family for a while. Go here and visit Love You Madly if you want to do nothing but poke around for the weekend. Wait that didn't sound right.
Have a great weekend poking,

Not Much Going On

This is what my little garden looked like in March. I also predicted that it would be a crazy hot summer. Yes, I can now add being psychic to my resume.

Here is a close up of my free veg. Riveting, I know!

And here is what I'm dealing with now. Give it free rein and this is what you get, a jungle. I'm off to pull weeds dill and what I thought was lettuce but actually is a weed, I think. It kind of tasted like a weed when I put it in our salad. I also served it for the 4th of July to a bunch of people. Yeah, I do things like this all the time.
I'm a bore,

She is one of our own and an all around great human being. She lives her life to help every single soul she meets. I just adore her and would do anything to help her. And if you vote for her she might just stop by your site and tell you, you have a nice ass. I just have to ruin every thing I write with a naughty word/thought.
Thanks again,

Wash Your Drawers

I've been living at Pinterest lately. I really like it there and it doesn't involve me fighting with my children. I can find a little something that I think is interesting and pin it to my wall. Pinning something is much easier than actually doing something. LOL.
Actually, I have found a few things that I have wanted to do around the yard. And Den seems somewhat interested. That is huge for him. I guess that is just his way of getting out of painting. Fine. We will paint when it gets cooler around here. Like that is ever going to happen!
I did find one tip there and it works like a charm! Wash all of your whites in dishwasher detergent. Antioch is known for its crap water. Even when the kids were little, the teachers would complain to the students. I'm pretty sure that it is a subject at the elementary schools. Yes, some people complain about the streets not being plowed during the winter-Antioch has water complaints.
Everything that you wash turns orange. Most longtime residents know not to buy white tee shirts. It's just common knowledge here.
Anywho, just soak your whites in hot water and dishwasher detergent in the washing machine and run as normal. It made a huge difference.

And that is about it here. I'm off to hide from my children!
Have a great day,
SonyaAnn

Christmas Crap

Even I am getting a bit sick of me blathering on about Christmas. So I will continue anyways just to annoy myself. I'm a bit like DJ today. Not good people, not good.
I got a $25 gift card from My Points for Bass Pro Shop. I'm counting it in the tally. It's like free money, right?  It's kinda better than free money since I don't have to take the cash and go shopping. Anywho, I'm the boss of this mess and that's how I'm doing it. Can you tell that I have been putting the smack down on the people that I live with?
And here is what we have....................
My Points $25 (gift card)
Send Earnings $27.94
Pinecone $48
Toluna $80
Amazon Gift card $100(won)
BP $225
HHGregg Visa cards $469.99
For a grand total of------$975.93

So the gifts that I have look a little something like this..........................
1 $25 Bass Pro Shop Gift card(free)
4 $25 Amazon Gift Cards(I paid FULL PRICE)
2 $10 Boston Market Gift card for $10
2 $10 Chili's gift cards(free?)

I've spent $222.88. If I had paid full price, it would have been $532.88. I'm at 58.18% savings rate. It feels pretty good to get the money for free and then turn around and save almost 60% on the things that I do buy.
Wish I was this clever with the mortgage,

Leaving

I haven't posted on my blog but I did on Facebook, that Jessie passed away. She is with our other dog, Thor and they are probably peeing on the Pearly Gates. I'm ok with that, I guess.
I miss the love that you get from a dog. We have a cat and he loves me the most. That is the way that I like it. I feed him and he sleeps on the pillow right next to me. But I still miss the little pitter patter of puppy feet. Den and I talked about it and we decided that we are going to hold off on another dog-for a while.
Anna probably won't be moving back home and this will probably be her last summer at home. This bothers me since I finally like her. Mind you, she is now me made over. I always said that I am the only person that I could get along with. I just had to wait 20 years to clone myself.
Everyone wants DJ gone. Sad but I speak the truth. He argues every flipping word that I say. I love him but I wonder how much time I would have to serve if he came down with a case of shaken baby syndrome. I just need an alibi.
Could I replace DJ with a puppy,

I Like Freaky Shit

I'm a freak, what can I say? I'm really into branding. I mean who could argue that branding during sex makes it so much better. Right, right? OK maybe that isn't exactly how it happened. I may have been cooking every food known to man for the 4th and grabbed a searing lid and melted my finger print off of my thumb. Yeah, that sounds more like it. But for a moment, I sounded like fun.
Now to bring Anna into the story to sound even more like a pervert. Six Flags has a tanning lotion/sun block sponsor. Not to say that they suck but they suck. The life guards get all the free lotion they want while they are working. It's free crap.(Walmart sells this generic brand that is a water-proof spray-on and is like 50 SPF. It lasts all day and does a great job. Go figure.) So needless to say Anna was burnt to a crisp after two days of using the free junk. I had read somewhere that rubbing wet tea bags on a burn would help. So she soaked in the tub with a bunch of tea bags and some oatmeal. I knew that oatmeal would help pull the burn out too. She was almost completely better by the next morning.. It was a miracle. Really, it was. She burns terrible and it usually lasts for a few days but she was just a little pink on the shoulders the next morning. The tub did not fair as well and spent some quality time with a bit of bleach.
Anywho, when I branded burned my finger print off I reached for a tea bag. I ran it under some cold water and then held it on my thumb. Five minutes and there was no pain. I was free to go back to cooking and do it all over again.
And who would have thought that I go from branding to Anna to a helpful hint all in one post?

Hot Money

It's hot as hell here. My BF Donna, is from England and her parents are here for a visit. They are convinced that hell will be this hot. She keeps saying that she is going to behave for the rest of her life cuz this is just too hot for her and now hell scares her. I love her but her goofy ass will be right next to mine in hell. I plan to rule but she has her doubts. I'll just have to prove it to her. You will all see.
And since we are talking about hell, I figured that I would bring up Christmas. It's a great tie in, isn't it?
I got another $27.94 from Send Earnings. It took a ridiculously long time to earn that pittance. I'm done with them now that I got my money. I guess that makes me a whore. And a hot whore at that.
So this is where we are at(I say "we" to try to keep you interested).....................................
Send Earnings $27.94
Pinecone $48
Toluna $80
Amazon Gift card $100
BP $225
HHGregg Visa cards $469.99
For a grand total of------$950.93
I'm happy with me!
Have a great day,

Fabulous Friday!

I found another wonderful place to waste a ton of time find a bunch of neat things to do and read! It's called Buzz Feed. It is basically like the Enquirer but they have a few articles on neat things to make. So head over here for some really neat projects.
Have a great weekend,

Den and Wood

Den does have his moments. They are rare but this was a good one. Mind you this was my idea but he made it work. Den used part of his winnings from Vegas to by a HUGE tv. I just wasn't willing to buy a new entertainment center. I suggesting lopping the top off the entertainment center. Who knew it would work?
I offered to supervise Den but he said he was fine and didn't need my help.
He also didn't want me taking his picture because it would end up on my blog. I would never do that to him.
He's good with wood,  isn't he? The only reason this project got done so quickly is because he didn't want to set his beloved tv on the floor. Now if only I could motivate him as quickly to paint.
Thanks for coming to see Den's wood,

Funky

My funk is my own fault. Normally I like to blame the children but I think some of it is because I stopped writing again. You would think that spending an hour a day on the computer would set me behind in everything that I need to do but it seems to get me farther ahead. I guess I just need purpose and a little selfish time.
Den gets up super early. He has to go in early every day and stay late. Did I ever tell you that he is salaried? So I get up not long after he leaves. The kids are on a completely different schedule. Anna leave around 10am and gets home around 8pm. She is also working out 6 days a week with her friends. They do the insanity workouts together. None of them are seeing results. I thought her knees looked a little more toned. She said it took 5 weeks to have better looking knees. I try to help.
I drive DJ around 2 or 3pm every day. He needs to be picked up anytime from 7pm to 10:30 pm. I am grateful that Anna has been driving to get him on her days off and he has a friend that he can catch a ride with if their hours coincide.Still it is getting to be a pain in the butt.
They stay up VERY late. Normally I would just let them do there own thing but my children have become very funny lately. They have the craziest 6 Flags stories. Like gunna pee your pants, funny. The funniest one was when they lost someone on a water slide. Who loses someone in a tube?
Six Flags hires students from around the world. Cool! Not cool is the fact that they legally must get 40hrs a week. Anna struggles to get 30. Anyways, some of the students from around the world don't have such a good understanding of the English language. *Side note- Some of these poor kids are Dutch and have never seen sunlight and/or have skin pigment. Anna's words, not mine. They went from glowing white to screaming red in one day* Besides not knowing English he couldn't count real well either. Perhaps he shouldn't have been sending people down the slide.
After much debate, he decided to just send another person down to dislodge the other person in the tube.  Luckily, he just miscounted and no one got slammed into anyone else. Anna said after a while you just blink and nod and have no emotion. It could be the heat or it could be how poorly she is being treated. She has been called every name in the book and shoved. If I had a whistle, that shit wouldn't be happening. I would kick everyone out and then have the park to myself but that is just me. LOL
DJ said that many people every day try to bribe him and get a prize without playing. He offers to get a supervisor and they could ask him. They leave after that.
Anyways, back to the point of my story. I'm not sleeping as much as I should. Wait that wasn't the point. I'm not writing and its everyone elses fault but mine. Yeah, that's the moral of the story.
Off to sleep or write,
Sonya Ann

Christmas Money!

I'm hot baby! I know, I'm boring the hell out of everyone but me. I'm selfish, what can I say. But I do seem to be picking up steam for a free Christmas.
I got another $50 from BP. So here is where we are...............................
Pinecone $48
Toluna $80
Amazon Gift card $100
BP $225
HHGregg Visa cards $469.99
For a grand total of------$922.99
I managed to convert the HHGregg gift cards into cash. Den bought a tv and we paid for it with the cards and I pocketed the cash. I was happy to get rid of the gift cards. That was a lot of money "trapped" on cards. So now that I got rid of them, guess what I did? Yup, I ordered a $200 American Express card. There was a deal where is you linked you checking account to a prepaid AmEx card they would give you $25 more. So I will have an extra $25 for Christmas. I love working the system. Now I will just have to convert those gift cards into cash again. I cause my own problems.
Have a great Monday,
Sonya Ann
