A Day Late

I'm always a day late and a dollar short. Well this time I am a month late and $1,378 ahead. And no I'm not pregnant. That would be hell, wouldn't it? To have a 21 year old, a 17 year old and a baby. I think that I would do a giveaway. Any takers? I'm kidding, maybe.
How do I always manage to fly off on a tangent? Wait that is how I live my life. Again I will try to have a point, I started doing the 52 week challenge. I saw it on facebook-I think that it was Debbie that first pointed it out to me. Thank you kindly, lovely lady.
We completed week 5 and I have $15 saved. I think this is a great way to get people to get in the habit of saving. The only problem that I see with this challenge is that people are needing to save the most amount of money at Christmas time. That might be a bit rough. It breaks down to $26.50 a week and that might be a better way to save for some. I'm going to follow the challenge as directed.  I'm hoping that I will have our Christmas prepaid again and won't have to worry about coming up with the money for this and Christmas. But for people that aren't savers, this would probably be enough to pay for their Christmas if they charged their gifts. Just a thought. But then again if they aren't savers, they probably won't try this.
Anyways, I was wondering if there was anyone out there that was doing the 52 week challenge or if there was anyone that wanted to join me?
Again not preggo,
Sonya Ann

I think it's a neat idea, but I probably won't do it. We try to set aside some savings each week, but the amount varies. I guess I'll just stick with that. I think this is a good idea, though.

I wish I were a saver. But I'm a let's try to pay something off or down instead kind of gal.
This is a good idea tho and will try.
Because I trust you and live for your tangents.

I'm good with whatever gets a person to save ANYTHING! If it takes a game like this, so be it.

But it's not like you need this kind of game SA....

It's been a month since Xmas and no Xmas 2013 Gift Savings update yet? Are you trying to torment me? lol

I'm thinking you might be pregnant? ;-)

Don't even think of it, because the idea gives me the cold chills. I adore my kids with every fiber of my being, but do not want to live through the infant stage ever again. My sanity (& marriage) would never survive.

Hmmm, I'll have to think through this savings challenge to see what I can come up with!

Annie-I'm always willing to try something new when it comes to getting me to save. But I'm starting to wonder just how far I can stretch my dollars. Gas is at $3.74 here. I'm afraid of what it will be when the summer blend kicks in.

McVal-YAY for trying! It's kind of one or the other. Save or pay off. I don't know what I will do with myself if I ever get the house paid for. Probably go on a spending spree. Don't tell sluggy.

sluggy-"But it's not like you need this kind of game SA...."WOW, Its like getting the highest honor a cheapskate can get!
I haven't had any cash come in. UGH, I may need to panic. LOL and I bought Christmas cards and that has been it. I spent $.75 on 3 boxes. I'm really going to flip out at Christmas time when I have nothing in the closet to give out. I'm thinking that maybe I will just send gift cards and be done with trying to send stuff all over. The gift cards might cost more but it might help to save my sanity. I guess it will all depend on how much money I can come up with. Oh wait-nothing this month. I'm off to panic.

Hawaii Planner-I was so glad when we got past the wipe my butt stage. Maybe I'm not such a great mom after all. I love them but there are times.........
I think most of us are squeezed with our budgets and I'm not sure if I will be able to come up with extra money in December but it is worth a shot and it would be great to go into the new year with a nice little sum like that.

Glad to hear this might help ya... for me, it's that "out of sight, out of mind" thing and it makes it easy for me to sock it away. I know that everyone has different style of spending and saving. For me, this works cause it's a conscious effort and an accountability chart :)

ND Chic-I have a 17 year old and a 21 year old that I can send your way. ;) Just kidding about the 21 year old. Hahhaha, I'm funny.

D.Lynn-I really love this idea. Really love it. Just seeing the chart on the frig makes me smile because one day I will wake up and there will be almost 1400 in the bank. That is a nice thought and will keep us on track.

This is a neat idea. I have become a saver in my "old" age. LOL! There is just something about seeing a balance in an account grow instead of dwindle. I put chunks of money in our main savings account. Like any medical overpayment refunds go there, as I have already paid out that money. Tax refunds all go to savings except for a little bit kept out for Hubby. Texas is a community property state after all, so I have to give him something. LOL! And when I get my annual bonus in March, most of it goes to savings. Of course, I have regular contributions to retirement savings. AND we have a little credit union account that a little goes into each pay period.

Frances-Wow you are doing great. I suspect that it is a ton easier to save when the kids leave. Friends of ours said that once their kids were gone, they felt like millionaires. I look forward to the day.
