Dusty Bubbles

I think Dusty Bubbles would be an awesome porn name. Just think of the title-Dusty Bubbles Blows Again. Just a thought! Yup, I started with naughty. Sometimes I like to ease into it, other times BAM, right to porn. You like it that way.
Anyways, I made homemade laundry soap. From porn to soap. Well after the porn, you probably need the soap. Stop it Sonya, stop it!

I looked up some homemade laundry soap recipes and I decided that I would wing it instead of following an actual recipe. I walk on the wild side.
That is what 4 bars of Ivory look like after you microwave them. I made soap clouds. Much easier than grating them. To make Ivory soap clouds, cut them in quarters and then microwave for 30-ish seconds.
This is what a clean kitty litter bucket filled with soap clouds looks like.
So dump 1 container of Gain power-crystal thingies in with the soap, 1 box of Borax(thanks Frances!), and 1 large bag of washing soda. And stir! This is the dusty part. Cough, cough!
I think this is what they call the money shot. The finished product! That's a lot of laundry soap for a very little effort. And it works GREAT!
Off to write a porn,
Sonya-looking for a porn name-Ann

So what is the cost spent to make/loads ratio vs. cost of bought product/loads ratio?

Numbers woman, I NEED numbers!

Why didn't we have fun like this when I was there???!!! ;-)

Hmm... I like Candy Bubbles better. Do you really watch that much porn or do you just have a wacky sense of humor?

Lena-Im glad that you got the recipe and I'm sorry for all the naughtiness that you had to read through to get it.

sluggy-I don't know the numbers. GASP! I bought the Ivory soap and then didn't get it. Then I forgot about making it and bought more. $.97ish. I won the Borax so FREE. The Gain power-crystal-thingies were about $6. I bought them a while ago and used half of it then decided that I needed to buy more. And the washing soda was about $3.
So my guess would be...... its probably cheaper to buy laundry soap while its on sale and with a coupon. That said, DJ is allergic to quite a few laundry soaps. And I love, love, love the smell of Gain but it is way too expensive to use all the time. SO this was my way of using what I had and getting my clothes to smell like Gain. If I had had to buy everything I don't know if I would do it again. I'll let you know how long it takes me to use it all.

This almost sounds like fun. :-) When I run out of my laundry detergent stash, I may try this.

Frances-It is super easy just mix it outside. It makes you cough terrible.

Is this recipe safe for HE washers?

Sonya Ann said...

Sheila-I don't know for sure. That said, I have seen people post that it was safe on other sites.

That is just about the same recipe and it says that it is safe. Ivory doesn't make a lot of suds. I guess if I were going to try it, I would use under a tablespoon and see what happens.
