Maybe????

I think I have talked about all of the car problems that we have had lately. And you are like, she never shuts up about it. You are quite rude at times, I have to say.
I'm almost afraid to bring this up but I think we have one car fixed. Holy shit!!! Did you say that? Cuz I did.
All four cars are/were(yay I can say were about one of the cars!) having problems. Anna had fuel injector problems and then it wasn't fixed properly. DJ's car is up in the air and I was actually having dreams about having to put the Lumina down. Seriously! In my dream, Den had the "put her down" talk with me. Den's car is creaking and I think that it is from the new tires that he got and the windshield is still cracked and is getting worse. But it has taken a turn, literally the crack turned to the left and then back down. My van is still creaking, beeps like crazy when it backs up and the the check engine light comes on when it gets too cold. I think its more of a complaining about the cold weather light than it is a check engine light.
As I have said before Den does the majority of the car fixes around here. I'm lucky, I know this. But he didn't have the tools to fix Anna's car and it is too cold out for him to try and fix it. So we brought it to a local mechanic and he FIXED it. Yes, I said FIXED her car. It was about $210 for everything. The part was $90 so I think this was more than fair.
My van and Den's car we haven't even started trying to fix yet. Anna's car had to be first because its a long drive and we won't send her off with car problems. Oh and this comes out of her account but I still consider this money spent. And it is still my problem or would that be Den's problem?
DJ's car has been an ongoing battle. Den fixed his car in October and it still runs like a champ. But the check engine light has been on every since. Den has worked on it and worked on it and never could pin it down. And the Lumina is going to have to go through emissions testing and it won't pass with the light on. Den finally gave up and we took it to the shop. And they couldn't find it. We paid $334 and the light came on two days later. I had explained the entire situation about Den redoing the head gasket and they thought he did everything right and were stumped too. They have replaced and returned parts and couldn't find the damned problem either. Which made Den feel great but the pocketbook didn't like it.
You know if it isn't something so damned stupid well, it just wouldn't be my life. Let's back up to when he redid the head gasket. I didn't write about this at the time because I had no idea that it mattered. He pulled the car half way into the garage so that he would have room to work. That meant that he had to leave the garage door open for the entire time that he had it apart. Then a terrible storm hit and we lost power for almost two days. He tried to work on it with flashlights but it wasn't happening. We finally broke down and bought a generator. Yes, we had to pay for all of the car parts, lose time working on it, and had to pay for a generator. This has not been our year to save money!
Anyways, Den set up horses and used sheets of plywood to set all of the pieces on. He had them all lined up so it was in order when he put everything back. Smart.
Or trash the garage
I was worried that someone was going to break into, well walk into the garage while it was open and steal something.  I was close.
Low and behold, I heard some terrible racket coming from the garage one night. I ran out there looking for an intruder but no one was out there. I took a quick glance around but couldn't find anything amiss, UNTIL THE MORNING! Now I'm not sure if the raccoons were partying or if it was a title UFC fight but they wrecked the joint! They knocked over a massive ladder which hit the car and dented the hell out of and then hit the make-shift table with all of Den's nicely laid out parts and sent them flying.
We picked everything up the next morning and never thought of it again UNTIL the new mechanic said that he found the slightest crack in the plenum. He had never even heard of that happening before. Then I remembered the damned racoons. Yes, the fat little bastards have caused about $500 damage with their party.
The good news is this should fix his car. The bad news is they don't make that part anymore and one has to be located at a junk yard. Hopefully, we will have this car sorted SOON!
So I got my Christmas wish of having one car sorted. But I'm still mad at the raccoons!
I've closed the door,
Sonya Ann
PS-Have a Happy and safe New Years eve. I'm going to be partying it up with friends! Bet you never would have guessed that one!!!!

5 Minutes in the Life

No, we didn't get a dog for the holidays. That is a good thing. We got a dog for 5 minutes and that was enough. Sigh.
We have caught/lassoed/captured/returned this dog twice to a new neighbor. The first time Den got the little stinker and all was fine, the second time DJ was in charge. Sit back, relax and enjoy the catastrophe.
We needed to get salt for the driveway so I sent DJ to get 200lbs. Look, the boy is always bragging about how strong he is. So I sent him to get the damned salt. Oh and I forgot to tell you, there will be enough swears in here for an entire navel base. You have been warned.
He pulls/slides into the driveway and finds the above rottie(this was the picture I took the first time Den found him-I thought that we might need to put up posters). So what would you do if you found a Rott in your driveway? Would you call for help? Scream? Shoo it away? Call the police? Help find its owner? None of the above if you are a 17 year old boy!!! You usher the stray rottweiler into your house. And let me tell you, he ran in the house like he owned the joint!
And this is where all hell broke loose!
I'm in the front room and the rottweiler came screaming towards me. At the same time DJ yells quite happily, "I FOUND A DOG!" I love dogs and I've owned a rot and a wolf so I'm not afraid of dogs. Plus I pretty quickly surmised that this was the same dog from up the road. I bet I didn't have the same reaction that most people would have had though. Anyways, I go to grab the dogs collar. He was quicker than he looks and I'm slower than I look. Wait, that didn't come out right.
At this point, I'm none to happy with DJ. I call out, "Get the damned leash!!!!"
DJ starts tearing apart the cabinet under the sink. And he is making a huge mess, I might add.
And this would be the point where our 5 pound cat decided to attack a 90ish pound rottweiler. Sue, our declawed and denutted cat, decided to go after the dog on the stairs. The rottie spotting a new friend bounds past me and heads for his new friend. The dog didn't seem angry or upset just ridiculously excited and STRONG. I bravely yell out, "HELP ME!"
Anna was downstairs and heard me scream for help. As she is running towards me, she glanced in the laundry room and yells out, "WE ARE TAKING ON WATER!" Because we are the Titanic at that moment. So she stops and goes in the laundry room. Water was everywhere. And because I could tell that the cat was about to die I called out, "LEAVE IT AND FUCKING HELP ME!"
She runs up the stairs and is staring at our newly found dog and is extremely confused, "When did we get a dog?"
Because I care so much about my son's self-esteem I said, "Your dumb ass brother found the dog and let him in! Grab the god damned cat!"
So DJ and Anna go to separating the two animals and I go to try and find the leash. I found it and got the dog on the leash and drug him to the back door. I turned to my son and lovingly said, "You and the dog need to get the hell out of here!"
DJ and the dog left. I took a deep breath and walked downstairs to my flooded laundry room. Oh and did I tell you that the dog slobbered?
5 minutes from crazy,

Down with the Bloody Big Head

Yes, down with bloody big head. No, I mean down with the tree. Actually, it was "off with the bloody big head" but what's the diff?
Today is the day that all the Christmas decorations come down or so I hope. It is a bit sad though. We only managed to have the tree up for 11 days. I need to get organized a bit better next year, or not. I seem to handle the holidays better when I don't stress. And it is quite apparent that if I don't stress, things don't get done in a timely manner.
Today is also known as "find a place for your new crap" day. I'm sure that it is the same in your house. It isn't as bad as it used to be though. It seemed like a never ending chore to store all of the kid's toys. Glad those days are gone along with the "wipe my butt" stage.
Do you get your house back in order right away or do you wait a few more days?
Heading to the crawl space,
Sonya Ann

Merry Christmas

Wishing you a Merry Christmas from our home to yours! I hope that you have a wonderful day and that Santa was good to you.
And it is hard to believe that our naughty kitty has left the tree alone. There has been an occasional swat at a branch but nothing terrible. The man at the tree lot told Den to put cayenne pepper in the tree water and cats will leave it alone. Works like a charm. Just remind me to do it next year.
Merry Christmas,
Sonya Ann

Christmas Eve

I'm wishing that I had that sweater for tonight's party. And I'm hoping that I find the Christmas spirit tonight, no wait.....I'm hope to find alcohol tonight. Yes, I'm hoping to find the alcohol spirit tonight. Ok, glad we got that sorted. But I hope that I don't find too much spirit because there are a few people that I don't like at my MIL's Christmas party. Alcohol and Sonya's mouth equals a Christmas nightmare. But to be honest, they have it coming.
These bad boys are on next year's Christmas to do list.
I hope that you have a great night and be sure that you go to bed early so Santa can bring you lots of gifts!
Hoping the spirit doesn't overtake me,
Sonya Ann

Don't Wanna Talk About It

I SAID I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT! You really are quite pushy, do you know that?
I did not do so well this Christmas. Sigh. I bet there will be another Christmas next year though. And I'm sure that I will save for that one too.
I got $9 more from Pinecone Research. Yay.
So for 2013 my tally looks like this..........................
$275        Bank of America
$299.50   BP
$5            free check from magazines.com
$123         Pinecone research(surveys)
$75          Energy Plus(electricity rebate)
$200        Jewel(bonus for buying gift cards)
$13.20     Bank of America Add it up(Like Mr.Rebates/My Points)
$15          AutoZone rebate/visa card
$5            Amazon E-card from Recycle Bank
$8.40       Star Savings(Like My Points/Mr. Rebates)
$125        Golf $$$$$$ Den won
$10           My Points($10 Bass Pro gift card)
$10           My Points($10 Old Navy gift card)
$20           Alcohol Rebate(Thanks sluggy!)
$1184.10  for Christmas 2013
BP was my winner for the year with Bank of America hot on his tail. Definitely saving your credit card points for Christmas is the way to go.
I really beat myself up when it comes to not accomplishing my goals. I'm not good at failure. I spent $1786.02 this year. Yes, I went over by $601.92. And then with the car problems and the money that we are throwing at them, well, I felt like crying.
And then something serendipitous happened and I felt better.  I read an article about why the X generation is the worst generation off and my spirit was uplifted. I have issues.
There is a part toward the end(and I might add that I liked the colors and the way it was presented. I was like, ooohhhh pretty and then stopped reading.Just kidding.) that gave how much on average each generation was in debt/had saved/saving rate/credit score and we were above/off the charts compared to all with the one exception being the debt. It was just nice to get a reality check. Maybe we got this far because I stress so much about the little things aka Christmas spending. Seeing that we aren't doing so bad was the best Christmas gift I will get this year. Ok that and the Victoria Secrets undies and body butter that I bought myself from Den. He's good to me.
Next year, I'm going for the knock out and will get all the Christmas money together!
Wishing you a debt free Christmas,
Sonya Ann

This is awesome. Stuff an old sweater and make it into a pet bed. Now we all know what to do with all the ugly Christmas sweaters!
Have a great weekend,

Druggie

I forgot to tell you about my kitty. Sue has been declawed and denutted. This is Sue high as a kite. Poor thing's head was bobbing. And this is just from the pain killers that I am giving him. Once the pain killer has warn off, he is back to his old tricks of trashing everything. Sigh. When we went to pick him up after surgery, the vet tech came out and said she gave him a ball to play with and when she came back he had managed to trash his cage. Food was everywhere. I was like, yup that's about right.
Ok so this is short and sweet. I'm super rushed, I'm sure no one else feels like that this time of the year. Off to stress about something else. Perhaps, I should start taking what the cat is?
Pusher man,
Sonya Ann

Poor Man's Pot Pie

Doesn't that look yummy? It was good. And you know how I hate to cook or spend money so its super easy and super cheap! Go me!!!
I make this whenever I get turkey or chicken super cheap or when there are tons of leftovers. You know that baggie of chicken/turkey bits at the back of the freezer, this is a good way to use it. The lonely $.69 bag of mixed veggies that no one wants would love to be in a pot pie. Just throw whatever you have in there. The recipe is more of a guideline than an absolute. But I would stick with the cream of celery soup it really gives it the flavor.
2 cups turkey/chicken
5 cans cream of celery soup
32 oz bag of hash browns(I only use these cuz I don't want to cut up potatoes)
1 crown of broccoli or half a bag of frozen broccoli
1 bag of mixed vegetables
Pie crusts
Mix everything together and fill your pie crusts. Wrap the edges of the pie with aluminum foil(to prevent it from burning) and bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 25 minutes.
This will make enough filling for 4 pies. We only eat two pies at a time so................
I put a gallon baggie in one of the empty pie tins, fill it then freeze it. That way I know I have exactly the amount I need for another pot pie. Ta da! Eat your heart out Martha.
Go ahead be jealous,
Sonya Ann

Found Christmas Spirit

Yes, you read that right. I think I finally found the Christmas spirit. And the Klingons brought it to me. Yes, Klingons.
The Raven Theatre in Chicago is putting on Klingon Christmas Carol. I'm not joking either, I'm really excited. The problem is it is ALL in Klingon. ALL! I think that I would have a hard time following it. But I want to go anyways. I know that the kids would love it. Den was the one that heard about it on the radio. He was SUPER EXCITED when he told me about it. And now I know that we are really dorks.
I just wish that I had sent out Klingon Christmas cards. I love how it says, "Peace on Earth, Conditions Permitting." And I love how there are batleth on the outside!
Nothing would say Christmas like one of these babies under the tree. Think Den will get me one?
Dreaming of a Klingon Christmas,
Sonya Ann

Fabulous Friday

This would be a perfect gift for Anna to make for all of her friends. You could pick up one of the cheap nail polish sets that go on sale this time of year and split it up. I scored a free set of 8 nail polishes from CVS a few weeks ago(I rolled my CVS bucks like a champ). Please don't think that I am getting in the Christmas mood by suggesting this. We can't have that.
Anna posted this to my FB page a while ago. I think she is trying to tell me something. Guess which one I am?
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sonya Ann

Bs

Some Besties boast about their boots.
But not me and my Bestie, we blather on about bacon and the best bargains.
Behold my Bestie's beast that I babysat. He was burned out, bored and beat after our bash.
It a blah, boring and bland day at my blog. I drew a blank on what to bang out for a blog post. I am blushing and bashful over this boring bibliotheca.
Blessing,
The bodacious bitch

Crazy and Naked Santa

Woo Hoo people, we are are in the home stretch!!!! I feel a little crazy like that Santa. I won't get naked. You are so welcome for that one. And I won't be getting a "I heart xmas" tattoo either. Again, you are welcome.
I got an exciting $31.66 from BP and $9 from Pinecone Research. So this puts us at......
$275        Bank of America
$299.50   BP
$5            free check from magazines.com
$114         Pinecone research(surveys)
$75          Energy Plus(electricity rebate)
$200        Jewel(bonus for buying gift cards)
$13.20     Bank of America Add it up(Like Mr.Rebates/My Points)
$15          AutoZone rebate/visa card
$5            Amazon E-card from Recycle Bank
$8.40       Star Savings(Like My Points/Mr. Rebates)
$125        Golf $$$$$$ Den won
$10           My Points($10 Bass Pro gift card)
$10           My Points($10 Old Navy gift card)
$20           Alcohol Rebate(Thanks sluggy!)
$1175.10  for Christmas 2013
That is a lot of money. It really is. I guess that it is safe to say that credit card rewards are the way to go for saving money for Christmas presents.
Everything combined, it equals almost $100 a month saved for FREE. Now let's just hope that I can stretch it to get all of the presents. It will be close.
I'll be merry when its over,
Sonya Ann

A Good and a Bad

I bought a Misto. Yeah me! I had been using Drunk Pam(homemade Pam) for a while and then went back to buying Pam. But no more! Just add olive oil and pump away. And it matches our appliances. Now all I need are stainless steel garbage cans and I will be a spoiled brat!
This was the first thing that we made. Ok, ok, ok, Den made it. There was a recipe going around the internet that used cauliflower and cheese and it made a crust. DON'T DO IT! I'm not even going to link to it. You deserve better. Even with all of Den's talents-he couldn't do a thing with it. It was more of a cauliflower pancake. It just didn't work.
That's all I got folks,
Sonya Ann

Fabulous Friday

This is adorable. And it looks simple enough for even me to do! But please don't mistake this for me getting into the Christmas spirit-we can't have that.
Have a wonderful weekend,

Bad Bad Bad

I need a theme song not just for this post but for life. Go here. That explains it all really.
This is the Christmas card I sent my inlaws. On the inside it says, Santa is coming.

More Gifts for Me?

I would literally have everything is being naughty got you more gifts. EVERYTHING!
Did you ever notice how quickly money spends? And it seems to go even faster when it is Christmas time and your broke. Ok I'll stop complaining. No probably not.
Our dear and crazy Sluggy sent me $20 so I added it to the Christmas fund. She had a $20 alcohol rebate that she thought she couldn't request from her state. But then she found out she could but had already said I could have it. She then felt that it wasn't hers to keep cuz she promised it to me. So she sent for it and then sent me a check. I would have done the exact same thing. We are cousins-we think alike. And since it wasn't money out of her pocket-well I kept it. And that I am desperate to fund the Christmas fund. Thanks cousin!
I also got $40 for the fund from buying Jewel gift cards. If you bought $100 in gift cards, you got a $20 catalina. I used the catalinas to buy groceries and then paid myself back.
I also received $3 from Pinecone research.
This is what I have-well sort of, I have been shopping. So this is what I had.LOL
$275        Bank of America
$267.84   BP
$5            free check from magazines.com
$105         Pinecone research(surveys)
$75          Energy Plus(electricity rebate)
$200        Jewel(bonus for buying gift cards)
$13.20     Bank of America Add it up(Like Mr.Rebates/My Points)
$15          AutoZone rebate/visa card
$5            Amazon E-card from Recycle Bank
$8.40       Star Savings(Like My Points/Mr. Rebates)
$125        Golf $$$$$$ Den won
$10           My Points($10 Bass Pro gift card)
$10           My Points($10 Old Navy gift card)
$20           Alcohol Rebate(Thanks sluggy!)
$1134.44  for Christmas 2013
All I need is another 3 months and I will have all the money that I need for Christmas. Let's just pretend that being naughty will earn me more gifts and more time.
Still even if I don't get all the money that I need, this is pretty good and I shouldn't complain. Knowing me I will complain, so tell me to shut up! Ohhhh, will you pull my hair when you say it.
Still crazy and complaining,
Sonya Ann

Annual Thanksgiving Project/Disaster

This was the project that we made on Thanksgiving. Well, this is what it is supposed to look like.
We had a couple of class clowns this year who thought that the front of the train looked like a mustache.
My bestie had icing issues. As in, she squeezed the bag too hard and it exploded. Her poor husband. She said that I didn't.
This one is mine. I take these competitions very serious even with the alcohol.
This is bestie's daughters train.
I love my mother in law with all of my heart. The poor thing had issues that night. She forgot her glasses and the battery went out on her hearing aids. Anna called her Helen Keller.
This is what it was supposed to look like.
And back to my MIL's train. Bless her little heart. She managed to add the pieces of the freight car to the actual train. It is the special train.
And this one is Anna's.
We had to use glue guns to get them to stay together and everyone thought the noise that I made when I hot glued a piece of candy to my finger was VERY funny until they did the same thing. Karna causes blisters. We had a blast making these. And that's all I have for you today.
The conductor,
Sonya Ann
