Jail Time?

I always try to help my children, I really do. Anna texted me the other day so upset that she had to pay $30 to be fingerprinted.. She has to be fingerprinted since she will be working in the schools. And she complained that she was broke. Ah ha, I have the solution. I told her to get arrested and get it done for free. I'm so there for my children.
And I don't want to hear about court costs or lawyers fees.
Fine ass parent,

Not to mention all that free room and board she'd get too!

Off to go commit a crime......

Kids are always broke when they have to pay bills lol but all sorts of cash when it comes to entertainment and clothes.

Getting fingerprinted for a job is actually a big accomplishment. Kudos to Anna!

and notice to Slugmama - there is no free room and board if you get arrested... I know this from experience. My son is still paying off the expenses and fines of his folly 2 years ago.

McVal.....sounds like a story you need to share. lolz

I've a grown kid who is gainfully employed and no longer living with us with his own health insurance.
So guess what I get in the mail from him today? A bill from his dr. visit in Jan.
What?! I need to sit him down and explain that you have your OWN insurance now, so YOU pay copays and whatever your insurance doesn't cover.
Kids!!!

Sometimes after a horrific day in the school trenches jail looks mighty enticing. All that time to read! And lay on my cot!

She needs $30 and dammit, she's broke?
Welcome to the Planet Adulthood. We have much to teach you.
And at least this was for HER benefit. As you already know, usually you need $30 (or $50, or $500) for something for one of your kids when you'd really rather spend it on something exciting like a cabana boy. Or the utility bill.

You really are brilliant SonyaAnn!

I know what you mean by broke kids. Our son, recently separated from the Army, is now a broke college student. He has not gotten the hang of being broke yet, so needs to borrow $20 here and there. LOL! He finally got a part time job to help with the money situation. Thank God!

I can so relate to this one today! My son had to have a new clutch put in his car along with a bunch of other stuff that goes with that clutch. He wined and complained for a WEEK about how he didn't have the money, didn't know what he was going to do, etc. I'm like welcome to adulthood, get over it. Well he goes to pay the bill and his debit card is declined. I'm like crap, I'm going to have to help him out after all but it turns out there is a maximum amount he's allowed to spend in one transaction and he hit that amount. He had a check with him and wrote a check instead. Me not knowing about the debit amount limited asked him if his check would bounce. That's when he informed me how much he has in his account: twice the amount needed to pay for the repairs!

sluggy-We might be on to something. LOL or we may really regret something.

Cheapchick-AMEN! Anna is broke and can't buy groceries but has new clothes.

ND Chic-She has been fingerprinted twice and we have paid for this twice. Why is my question? It isn't as if her prints are going to change.

Sonya Ann said...

McVal-Well bless his heart! Kids are great, aren't they?

Sonya Ann said...

sluggy-Hey, he was just testing to see if the bank of mom was still open. Can't blame him for trying.

Jane-Sluggy and I will join you. We will be perfect bunk mates. Give me a week, I'll be running the joint.

Donna Freedman-Planet Adulthood sucks, I really don't like it here. Could you take me to Disney world instead? Please, oh please, oh please, Ive been good.

Sonya Ann said...

Frances-He is going through a huge change but I'm sure that he will get the hang of it soon. He's a good kid and you did great with him. But I have the feeling that Bank of Mom will always be ready for withdrawals.

mama-All the complaining that he did makes him sound like one of us. LOL. Tell him to blog about it and we will leave snarky and uplifting comments.

I made the mistake of letting the courts appoint me a lawyer, and lucky for me i got a kid right out of law school. This kid was still learning the ropes and made more mistakes than I think I would have. If you don't have the money for a lawyer, talk with them about a payment plan, it is worth every penny you will save at trial.
