List Lover

I love and live by the list. I don't know maybe it is because my memory is shot but I can't seem to function without one. Wait what was I talking about?
So I have an awesome tip for people with school aged children. Walmart usually has many different school's supply list out by the school supplies. They also have the list from all the grades. Grab one for the next year up. That way when school is out the following year, you will already know what you need and can start collecting the beginning of the summer. The supply lists never really change. Mind you, I wouldn't go out and buy a $100 calculator before you know you really need it but if you could find one super cheap at a garage sale then I would say snag it.
Don't we all need one of these notebooks?
Also if you have to make a list for a trip, save that list too. I used to dread traveling because I would have to try and remember everything that I needed to do and pack. Now I just pull out the list that I have kept since the kids were little. Mind you, I don't have to pack toys or swimsuits for them anymore but it is a nice walk down memory lane. And I have added to it over the years and I would call it complete.
So the real question is am I an anal-retentive or lazy?
No butt,
Sonya Ann

See, I am of the opinion that it is laziness in the most severe form. Being a lazy person myself, lists are a mainstay. I don't like to think too hard or work too much. If I have a list, this I don't have to.

By the way, I have about 5 notebooks of lists.

Shame, shame, shame

Jennifer-I love my lists and I do think that its because I'm lazy that I hold on to them. Or cuz my memory is shot.

sluggy-That would be a big NO!

I'm a list maker too. I do it mainly so I don't forget anything. My family laughs at my meal lists. Every time we have a lot of people over for a meal (especially Thanksgiving), I make a list of what I am going to make/serve and then a list of items needed to buy at the store. My sons love adding things to these lists especially the shopping one, in hopes that I won't notice that I'm suppose to buy a 5 pound bag of beef jerky :oD

About the school lists, I would still not open things and keep the receipts, all in a place safe from the children. But, I preshop all the time for g-children's school needs when I find a clearance in February of things they need.

I bought stretchy book covers for a quarter in a Goodwill store in February. Otherwise, daughter must buy clear plastic to cover books.

WM has a school stuff clearance after Christmas. I shop it often as they add items.

Yes, I do use lists. I love lists. However, I did not put milk on a list since it was the only thing I wanted/needed at Walmart. After I paid and started to leave, I remembered the milk. Sale items had so distracted me! These sale items were things I would use, just sale items not advertised.

I have a travel packing list that I use over and over. It has saved many a headache.

When I have company for dinner, I make a list of what I am serving and keep it close--on refrigerator. I started doing this because of the many times I left off a dish that was prepared the day before or earlier in the day and shoved back on the shelf.

RE-Jennifer's comment

Francois Montand is a French sparkling wine Sonya.
And you call yourself a booze hound.....lol

Jennifer said...

Yep, I call Francois my boyfriend. It is a blanc de blanc sparkling wine. From the Bordeaux region.

Gin is for my husband - he is a Tom Collins guy.

I make lists just for the sheer pleasure of crossing things off.
My dad used to make a list of things not to forget, and then forget the list. And this was when he was YOUNG.

Mama-I would write a foot rub on the list! Would I get it?
YOu can't blame your sons for trying!
I have used the same Thanksgiving list for years. The paper is slick!

Linda-I have a few plastic bags of supplies in the hall closet. I have the feeling that I am done collecting for the kids. But you never know, if Anna becomes a teacher, I might ship everything off to her.

Cheapchick-I still have get the kid's homework and find dog sitter on the list. Hey, it still works and I will probably still be using it when I have grandkids.

Linda-I keep a list on the frig too! I've left things in the frig before and was so mad at myself.

Sonya Ann said...

sluggy-I JUST DRINK IT! I have no idea if its worth anything or not. I'm a true drunk, thank you very much!

Jennifer-You both are too sophisticated for me. I'm a Boone's girl. I like the pink one. LOL

Donna Freedman-I do extra chores and then I write them down just to get to scratch them off. It might be an addiction. Maybe an intervention is needed?
Your dad sounds like he might be related to me. My fav is when I go to the grocery store and lose the list.

I have a dollar store "to do list" notepad that has been my best (and cheapest) organizer since paper was invented. It has saved my sanity so many times. I thought that I wouldn't need it now that I'm done working but it seems that my personal life is just as messy and disorganized as my work world was! Go figure!

Lists - I don't mind writing them but I do mind taking some notice of them.

Sonya Ann said...

Jane-Is there too many to do lists? I think not! I have one for groceries, dinners, trips, monthly items, moving kids, packing. Oh and a daily list and a monthly one. I may be a bit obsessed.

Sonya Ann said...

Jenny Woolf-Hahahaha!

Frances said...

You ARE obsessed. I only do grocery lists. When I go to the liquor store I don't need a list. LOL!

Sonya Ann said...

Frances-I don't use one at the liquor store either. Hmmm, maybe that's why I spend too much there!
