Cute, Expensive, and Frosty Mashed up Monday

Sue has his moments.
The only time that cat is cute, is right before he trashes something. He looks at me and then knocks over some picture frames or bites them and then happily runs off when I start yelling at him. He should be named Mistake.
This sign was in front of a local garage sale. I know that that phrase has been around for a while but it was still funny.
The garage sale season is pretty much over in this area. We didn't find anything spectacular this year but I have managed to pick up a few cheap frames for Anna's room makeover.
When Anna first moved into an apartment, she bought a white chair just like this one from the Goodwill. I think we paid $20+ for it. This one was $699! I told Anna she is keeping her chair forever! The porn chair will be in the family for a long time. I think if I ever found another one I would buy it for Anna's room at home. It would be a funny joke but not for $699.
While poking around for furniture for Anna's room at another posh store, I spied these pictures. Dude, they wanted $159 for each one!!!!!!!! It looked like scrapbook paper to me. Now I know that I can get a frame for $1 from the Goodwill or a garage sale and scrapbook paper is $.29. How do people have that kind of money to piss away?
I found this little gem for $25 at a craft store. Again, a Goodwill frame, $1 worth of burlap and some letter stickers for a cost of maybe $3.
Anna's decorating style is more modern than mine. Her room won't match the rest of the house but I'm fine with that.
I found this picture for $79.99. It is what I was looking for but again, I'm cheap. I found a picture of a flower at the Goodwill for $9.99. The only problem was the stem of the flower was green. My wonderful MIL, Donna, took it and is going to clean it up and color the stem. She is a wonderful artist and loves to help. I have been blessed. She also loves to get caught up in my hair brained schemes. I wanted black and white photos for the walls but my scanner stopped working. Hey, the printer is fine and I'm not replacing it. So Donna offered to scan a bunch of pictures and put them in the frames that I collected. She seemed happy about doing my chores. She is a gift.
I finally grew Morning Glories. It's the end of the season though. Son of a XXXXX! I have planted Morning glory seeds for years and NOTHING. I have soaked the seeds, scored the seeds, yelled at the seeds, and begged them to grow. Again NOTHING.
Den even made me a trellis for my Morning glories. I have tried so many times and failed so many times.I try to admire the trellis by itself.

So where did they grow? In the corner, by the grill, where no one can see them. Not even close to the trellis. Why, man, why? I won't be upset when the frost bites their ass.
Thank you sluggy for thinking of me when you saw this!
I received $3 from Pinecone research and I got a $250 credit on my Bank of America card. Go Sonya!

It seems like your Christmas fund has grown a lot from the last report. Is it enough? I don't have nearly that much, but it's good.

People buy those overpriced pictures because they are too lazy to DIY.

And if you wanted to grow Morning Glories you should have asked me to do it for you.
I can grow glories without any effort at all.
Of course it's about the only flower I can grow from seed. lol

Linda-I've gotten a few large chunks which is good but its still off from the $2k that it costs every year. Blame Den, he likes to buy for everyone. I checked the list and 85% was cuz of him.

sluggy-Grow them and ship them, LOL!
I'm lazy but poor so that's why stuff gets done.

Ha I loved sluggy's post she is so mean. Your efforts are pitiful, and you have worked so hard.

Sonya Ann,
Okay, I am blaming Den. Do you look for bargains when you spend. or does he just spend. Sometimes, I am looking for a certain thing, and find it at the lowest price.

I did a post a few days back showing how I decorated a wall that has bothered me for four years. I used paper I had printed out, and some cheap frames without the glass that make them light enough to hang on SEWING PINS! I was shocked at how great that wall looks now and it was just PAPER!!

I don't have to buy paintings or photos. I have paintings The Hurricane did when she took art classes, and prints my mom left me. Sometimes I think I'd like some more modern looking things, and then I relax and feel grateful for what I have.

Love,
Janie

Your trellis is lovely!

And have you ever heard of Starving Artists Sales? They're still pricey... It inspires us to get crafty tho huh?!

You got over the $1000 mark woohoo! People spend stupid money on stupid crap every day. I am telling you, there are lots of stupid people out there or lots of retailers would go out of business :)

I love seeing something that costs too much and coming up with my interpretation of it. Good for you for creating your own "art"

I can't get Morning Glories to grow at all but have had great success with Moon Flowers. Supposedly they are companion flowers, but I think the moon flowers are cannibalistic and devour all the morning flowers.

Out My window-Sluggy is a funny girl!

Linda-The problem is his family, they all have a lot of money and they spend like crazy at the holidays. It's just the way they are. I've tried over and over to cut it back and I can't win. So now I just try to find free money so it doesn't bother me to spend it.

lotta joy-I'm on my way to check it out!!!! I love when we come up with creative ways to decorate.

Janie Junebug-That's the key to life/happiness being grateful for what you have. Normally, I wouldn't sweat a room redo but we have to pay for the furniture too this time.

McVal-They used to do those around here when I was a kid, but they don't do them anymore. I wonder why.

Sonya Ann said...

Cheapchick-Thank you for the nod!
I just don't understand how people have that kind of money to just shop for whatever they want without giving it a thought.

Anne in the kitchen-I just can't get anything to grow there. And cannibalizing plants sound way to creepy for me. I think that I am going to have to break down and buy something the beginning of the season next year, some sort of vine-y thing. I'll probably kill it too.
