Giveaway!!!!

Guess where I am? Yeah, its kind of easy with the name being in the picture and all.
Den and I are celebrating 20 years of being married. I never would have guessed it. 20 years in prison, absolutely. Making this marriage work, no not really. He swears the only reason that we made it this long is because we are both to lazy to get a lawyer. This makes me laugh every time. I must be too lazy to get the shovel too. Just saying.
And to celebrate me not serving any jail time, I'm giving away a $25 Restaurant.com gift card!
Here's the deal-
  • You get one entry a day just for showing up and being my friend! AWWWW!
  • You get 5, yes 5, entries if I am on your blog roll! Just leave a separate comment for each entry.
  • If you blog about this giveaway or mention this on your facebook page, you get another 5 entries for each(10 total)! Just leave a separate comment for each entry.
I'll pick a winner and post it next Monday!  Wish me luck, to win not to get the shovel! And I'll wish you luck!
Lady luck,
Sonya Ann

Fabulous Friday

This is beautiful! I would love to have this in my yard. Mind you, after I trimmed it, it would look like it was skinned alive but it would be awesome until I got involved. Eventually, my yard will disappear and I will only have a path because I will have so many plants and junk. Yes, it will happen.
Trimming,

T and A and TMI

I love this shirt but it likes to show off my boobs at every turn. Literally, every movement and you get to see more and more. While I would like to think that my boobs are still decent, there is 42 years on the tread. They ain't what they used to be.
I bought a little white tee to put under it and all it did was ride up and twist. So I bought a different white shirt and it rolled up.
Then I got the bright idea of sewing a piece in the shirt and being done with it. Right, cuz I can sew with no problems. In sewing class in high school, I didn't do so hot. I made a pair of pants and I think the zipper was too long and I might have confused the front and back. Anyways, you better have gotten a Brazilian wax if you wanted to wear them. The zipper was low and under. Needless to say, I didn't wear them. Oh and I set off the fire alarms in cooking class. Again, I think these events were quite telling. BUT I did awesome when we had to go out and work on our cars. Think As and I even showed up the guys.

And I pulled out my sewing kit. Yup, that's it. Well, I have a few different colors of thread in case Den needs to sew anything. So McVal, Sluggy and anyone else that sews, are you ashamed of me yet?
The needles were my Great-grandmothers. There are a few that are slightly bent. They poke me a lot.
I thought about using a pair of underwear and just sewing them in. But I decided that it wouldn't be hard to figure out what I had done with Victoria Secrets or some other brand stretched between my tits. So I found a bunch of t-shirts on clearance and decided I was fine with chopping up one.

This actually turned out to be harder than I thought it would be. The material kept bunching and when I tried it on, it pulled a bit. I marked and remarked the shirt.
Even Den thought this little project was a bit out of my range.
TaDa!! Who knew and I haven't popped a tit out yet! Give it time, right? Oh and I know that it looks like it is crooked but it is not, let's just blame my left breasticle.
I'm smiling so big in the picture because all I could think about was this..........................................
I'm just not the selfie sort of person.
Now go back and reread the title. Hahaha.
Still TMI,
Sonya Ann

Money And Worry

I stress about everything a lot. Its kind of what I'm good at. Life and bills can be overwhelming. I really get worked up when I start looking at what is on the horizon. Both kids are in college, replacing cars, car repairs, WEDDINGS, and everything else. And looking at all the debt that is in the future not to mention that we still have a house payment doesn't help me either. We don't have credit card debt or car payments. But I see bills ahead. That scares me A LOT!
I'm sure that everyone has worries just like I do. So you know what I do to feel better when all of these feelings of worry and dread sneak up on me? I look back. We have made it through some pretty tight and miserable times. I mean just scraped by. And I know that you have too. Think back to when you were in your darkest hour, you fought for the light. We all have. And just knowing that I have made it through hard times either emotionally or financially before, helps and gives me hope about the future.
In bad times, I take a deep breath and I believe in me. Try it next time you are overwhelmed, it works. I mean believe in yourself not me. If you want to believe in me that would be awesome too. ;p
I'm going to continue to scrimp and save. I'll win some battles and I'll lose some but damn it all, I'm in it to win it. None of us will lose this fight with enough effort. Its not really about the money anyways, its about being calm in a crisis. Being level-headed is what will solve our problems. Panicking only makes it worse.
Remind me of all of this next time I have a flip out!
Believing in all of us,
Sonya Ann
PS-This is way too uplifting for my normal self. Give me a day and I'll come up with something naughty!

Apple Mashed Monday

This tasted much better than it looks. That was the dollar store meal that I made. Don't say yuck. Even the plate was from Dollar Tree. We usually grab a bite while we are out and about on Fridays but in my quest to save money, I made us a fast lunch. We normally don't eat a lot of processed foods. But I have to say, I might make this again.
So I have a confession, I have budgeted $100 a week now for groceries, I spent $165.22 last week. It was a tasty week, what can I say. That also included two meals out. And I don't even care, we are having such a blast!

Our local bank, State Bank of the Lakes, was having a free cookout for anyone that wanted to come out for a visit on Saturday. Free wienies, hell yeah. So we stopped over for a free lunch. It was us and the people from the nursing home. I felt young.
They had it catered and had a DJ, games, face painting and prizes. I won a Frisbee for guessing how many tootsie rolls they hand out in a year. It was 3000 pounds.

After our free food, Den and I went on an outing to an orchard. We ate awesome donuts and drank freshly squeezed cider. It was amazing and it didn't have a drop of alcohol in it. Who knew?
The trees weren't that impressive but the apples were so crisp.
We didn't find out that it was $18 to pick a small bag of apples until we drove in! Den accepted the challenge and tried to stuff every apple into the bag. Ask sluggy, if given a bag and told "get as much as possible in here" he will work for hours to get more than anyone else in there. Go ahead, ask her about the ghiradelli shop.
The basket was $.99, the tasty apples were way more. Den said the owners of the orchard seem to think that it is a privilege to pick their apples. There was a line of suckers just waiting to get in. Maybe I need to plant apple trees!

This is the latest project that I have going on here, Anna's room. The only good thing I can say about this is that its almost empty and that I don't have to paint the ceiling. But still, I have to paint.
You know how when you don't need anything, everyone and their sister is offering you their old furniture? Well, we were hoping that someone would offer us something for Anna's room. Nada, nothing, zilch. We have also been looking at garage sales for anything. Not had any luck. Oh well, at least, I have something to complain about, right?

These are my very green and bushy tomato plants. I'm putting them in the flop category this year. We harvested about 4 pints.

The mystery is solved though. I must have gotten orange/yellow cherry tomato plants. I had a few tomato plants that grew from the seeds that I threw in their last year and they were red. I know this is something that you were really worried about.

Den was also insistent that we buy new shoes for our Vegas trip. He truly believes that new shoes are lucky. The only vibe that I'm getting is blisters. They are light though but still blistery.
I scored a hot $6 from Pinecone Research this week and a $10 Chili's gift card from MyPoints. I'm on fire!

Fabulous Friday

A shepard's hook and an old wash tub! YES! And my next door neighbor has both of these in her yard. Not put together like this but I now know where I can steal it from-I mean borrow. FINE, I will just look for some at the Goodwill.
Honest?

Not To Brag But.....

This is not deja vu. See all those years of French in High School paid off. I finally used French in the real world. See High School was not a waste of time. Cough, maybe, cough. Comment allez-vous? Ahhhh, bien! And don't be cute and leave a comment in French cuz you just got all that I retained.
Anyways, how did I manage to get sidetracked? Oh yeah, that's a picture of Den. He is quite proud of himself. It's a damned fish and I could get one cleaned and frozen for probably $1.99 a pound compared to the hundreds of dollars that it took to pay to catch that one and sleep on the ground. Sorry, I am once again getting off the point. Hey, at least this tangent was in English.
The owners of the property that Den stayed at really liked him. Somehow when you talk about fishing Den doesn't shut up. Maybe I should talk about fish more. He just grunts at me.
Anywho, he showed them this picture and they are going to use it in their flyers and advertisements. Yup, I'm married to a model. I would have said that I'm having sex with a super model but that might be an overstatement and over-sharing. He's cute and all but my pillow wins out.
So to all the people that I know and the girls in high school that thought they were cuter than I was. Piss off, I'm with a male model!
Oh and he threw the fish back. There might have been $4 worth of fillets there. I'm fine with it though, my van didn't stink of fish when he got back. It did smell a lot like Febreze though.
Fini,
Sonya Ann

Car Care-Girl Speak

I don't normally lecture but its the time of the year when us girls need to step up our manly duties. We need to get our cars ready for the winter.
The above ugly assed picture is of the bottom of my car. My screws are rusting. Damn it.
A few easy maintenance steps will keep your car or van going strong for much longer.
Run the lovely vehicle through the car wash and pay for the wax.  They also sell a super easy spray on wax. Just spray and wipe. I would recommend that too.
Clean the tires and look for any damage. And don't forget the wet shine. I buy the spray on that doesn't need to be wiped off. This is all about being lazy. Yes, I vote for that.
Look for any rust spots. I buy the cheap touch up paint. And I'll even sand small rust spots if it seems to be too bad. For the ugly bolts, I'll paint them and then spray them with a clear coat just to make sure that its sealed. I would only do this in areas that you can't see.
Not perfect but much, much better.
This mess is the bottom, inside of the driver's door. YUCKY!
It's not perfect but it really does help control the rust. Also, a magic eraser will help clean up the area before you touch it up. It gives you a better idea of how bad the area really is.

Any black rubber parts have the tendency to turn grey. Yup, ugly and it makes your car/van look old. No one wants to show there age, especially my van, Ol' Girl.
I use the tire shine on my bumper. Hmmm, that came out wrong.
That is so much better. She looks 10 years younger! Think it would work on me?
I also give the inside of my van a good once over. Shhhh, don't tell anyone but I keep a dust rag in the cup holder in case I see any dust.
OCD and Rust-free,
Sonya Ann

Leaking and Naughty Mashup Monday

Well, it was a busy weekend that ended super quick. We closed the pool and packed up the deck. That is always a massive job. We shouldn't even have opened it this year. We swam in it once. Yes, ONCE! And we were both looking forward to Den coming home from work and jumping in with NO KIDS to bother us. Maybe next year, it will be nicer out and we will get more pool time. Ha ha, Mother Nature laughs, not on my watch! Bitch.
The good news is we think that we found the leak. To drain the pool, we disconnected the pipes on the return and intake. Once it gets below where the pipes are no more water will drain out.  And then we watched it for a day. The water levels never dropped so that is wonderful news. The liner doesn't have a tear. That means the pipes are leaking. And that is an easier fix! Den filled the pipes with RV antifreeze(its what you use for pool pipes too) and next year we will see which pipe is empty and that will be the one to replace. So, so, so much easier than trying to go over the entire pool inch by inch while it is full trying to find the leak. Or maybe it is just procrastinating. No, I will call it planning.
My inlaws were watching my nephews for the weekend so we went out to lunch and then to Chuck E. Cheese. The boys call me Tia and Den is Bubba. They like to hang on Bubba and give him grief. I wholeheartedly encourage this behavior.
This little one is Andrew. He is the naughty one. And he is cute as can be. He also reminds everyone of.......
of Bubba. Den was more than willing to spend some time playing games with the boys.
My Favorite Santa Pic EVER!
I earned $89.24 from BP! I just need to keep this up for a few more weeks and we are set! Go Sonya!!!
But really BP is the way to go for earning points/cash back on a credit card. 5% for gas is the best that I have seen and it is 1% on everything else. And the kicker is that we use the BP card almost strictly for gas. Our Bank of America card is our go to card for everything else.
So here is where we are....................
$100.49     Google(blog writing)

Have a great and productive weekend,

Bad Hose, Bad

I was so jazzed when I got Den the Pocket Hose. I hated lugging the heavy and awkward old hose around to water. I guess his gift was a bit more for me than him but I was willing to let him water the yard.
I was so jazzed about this product that I even went and bought 2 blue XHOSEs and another Pocket Hose so that I could reach the entire yard. Between watering all of the flowers and filling the pool, I had this shit figured out.
Now I do need to point out that the Pocket hose promised to be tough enough to tow a truck. That I didn't try. I only used it to water with. In fact, neither one of the hoses saw any abuse. Nor did they see much action.
I obviously didn't have my shit as figured as I thought that I did. Those things didn't last half the summer. And considering that it rained and was cold this summer, they weren't used much. Don't waste your money. The idea is awesome but the inner tube pops like a water balloon. I have one out of the four left. I am now back to lugging the heavy, awkward hose around. I hate that old heavy hose but it takes a beating.
Been hosed,
Sonya Ann

Chipped, Cracked, and Mad

When Den took his little fishing trip, I let him borrow my van. It's easier to haul the gear and in case it gets to wet out, he can fold the seats down and sleep in there. See I can be a good and thoughtful wife.
When he got back, he started cleaning it. He knows better than to return my van dirty and stinking of fish. He took it to the car wash and then came back and was working on my windshield. He was putting a patch on the windshield. I'VE SEEN THESE PATCHES BEFORE! He sighed and went on to tell me about how a truck threw a rock and it gouged the windshield. After the last fiasco of getting a new windshield, having to have it repainted and the cost of the window, I wasn't happy.
He looked pitiful and then I remembered................
how I bottomed out his car while turning around. Yeah, I cracked the bumper. But its the underneath so it doesn't count as much as the windshield, right?
I say call it even. But he still had the nerve to be mad!!!!

Mished and Moshed Monday

Anna was all excited cuz he was wearing an EIU jacket.
Yeah, that's my man. He and his best buddy went on a fishing trip. I have a question about it though. How can sleeping in a tent on the ground COST SO MUCH MONEY? This is not a cheap sport/escape by any means. It might be the lures, it might be the alcohol. No wait, I was the one spending on the alcohol.
Donna and Steve are our best friends. Our sons are like brothers and Anna and their daughter even with the age gap are just adorable together. Whenever Anna comes home, Bek runs and jumps into her arms. This has been happening since Bek was very little, she's 15 now so its quite funny.
So Steve went on his first fishing trip with Den. Their son Jord left for college the same as DJ. Anna is off at school and Bek went away with the hockey team. Us girls were all alone!
Did you ever eat something and have no idea what it was? I can now say this.
Donna has complained since coming here from England that there is no good Indian food. And since we were all alone, I decided that I would track down an Indian restaurant. I found the Himalayan restaurant. So we set off, to find it. It was a drive but she was worth it. LOL
And she was really cute when we walked in because it was mostly Indians dining there. She said that was a very good sign.
We ate the lunch buffet. It was amazing and I'm going back! But I still have no idea what I ate.
We had a lovely couple of days and much alcohol. So much so that I went to get a bottle of wine and discovered that I was out. I'm sure Den drank it. It couldn't have been me.

Now on to the yard and away from the alcohol!
I bought that beautiful basket for myself for Mother's day.
And it became this mess. No really, its in there. I set it by the fence hoping that a change of scenery would inspire it to perk back up. It decided that dying was a better thing to do.
This was my adorable little garden next to the back door, the beginning of the season. Look at it all little, cute and organized!
I'm now propping the basil up with bricks. At least, I haven't killed them.
I was so excited about my little basket and how cute it was at the start of the summer!
All of my hopes and excitement ended up being a straggly mess. It grew up, ugly. I think I will need to find different plants to plant in the baskets next year.
The basket on the front of the house turned out nice though. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of light it gets. But what does the finger of death really know about plants anyways.
And UGH! We had such a miserable winter last year and because I hate winter so much, they are predicting a miserable winter again. Yes, I think that the weather man is out to punish me.
The snow and ice brought one of the large branches of the tree in our front yard down. I went out and beat it with a broom until it stood back up.
Its a little hard to see but one of the three main branches is dead. I guess beating it with a broom didn't help much. I foresee Den playing lumberjack. He thinks that he can make something out of the wood. I hope its Christmas presents. We are getting way to close for my comfort!
If I used my bra as a stocking, I would get all the presents!
I really did well this week!!!! I got a $25 Amazon gift code from Saving Star. I got a $25 Bass Pro gift card from MyPoints. I earned another $6 from Pinecone Research. I earned a $25 Game Stop gift code from E-Rewards. I'm set if I get this much every week!
So here is where we are....................
$100.49     Google(blog writing)
$114          Pinecone research
$179.09     BP
$25            Amazon gift code from Saving Star
$25            Bass Pro Gift card from MyPoints
$25            Amazon gift code that I won from Donna Freedman at Surviving and Thriving!!!!!
$50            Gamestop gift code from e-rewards
Total $518.58 for our 2014 Christmas! I count gift cards/codes as actual money. It's my tally and I'll tally my way.
And that's about it for my house. Boring, yeah maybe.
Bras and bushes,
Sonya Ann
