A Prime Drunk

Well this is a new one! I'm a better cook when I'm drinking. No really, Den asked for seconds!
So if you are looking for a way to use up leftover baked potatoes and alcohol, this is the way to go. First, drink most of the alcohol. Then cut up the baked potatoes in thick slices and fry them. I used olive oil. They were nice and crisp and I was nice and toasted. I'm all about making your life better. And the only reason that I try these things is to have something for you to read. You are welcome.
Does anyone out in the blogging world have Amazon Prime? I'm really on the fence about this one. It looks like some of the movies/tv shows would be nice to watch. That is if the signal would hold out long enough. But I have been ordering more and more though Amazon and I hate paying for shipping. I'm just wondering if anyone that has it orders more now since the shipping is free. I think I might order more if there wasn't a shipping charge. I don't know, is this something that I need to be talked out of?

I will make fried potatoes that way with left over baked ones. They are good. You could also add some dried or fresh rosemary to them. No idea at all about Amazon Prime.

I have Amazon Prime, but while I don't buy more just because of free shipping, it is an incentive to keep me in the Amazon world as opposed to the Ebay world. As far as the free media content, it's nice, but given how busy I stay, it's a perk that I don't take advantage of.

I haven't tried the media portion yet. I originally got into Prime due to the number of books I was buying throughout the year and shipping was killing me on cheap used books. What I found this year is with a slow down in my book purchasing I am coming about even with the membership fee versus what I would have paid for shipping and then you also need to watch that when purchasing from other than Amazon, they have sellers that are linked through Amazon, sometimes those shipping fees do have to be paid and don't qualify for Prime free shipping. It all depends on what you plan to purchase throughout the year and if you can find it someplace else cheaper. It was nice when I did almost all of my Christmas shopping on Amazon last year. Plus they are so fast with deliveries. Things might get even faster for us here in Wisconsin and Illinois with the Kenosha distribution warehouse opening up.

The year I paid for Prime I don't think I bought a single item on Amazon.....go figure. lolz
So no, it didn't entice me into buying more.
I got it just for the free media content basically.

I did the 30 day trial and it was o.k. Some movies are included, but many others you have to rent and/or buy. Decent selection though. I did like the idea of free shipping. Also has access to music, but you can't share account with family members so wasn't too keen on that (for music etc). We have Netflix and just stream for about $8.00 a month and so far is good for us along with Dish. Reception for anything where we live is awful... Let me know what u decide, I have a few friends who have it and they like it.

Blessings,
Jill

Amazon prime Canada sucks as they don't have any shows for us due to crappy Canadian laws that hopefully will be changed some time in the future (regarding required Canadian content). Otherwise I would have it.

Gill - That British Woman-Oh you are so thinking! Rosemary would make them amazing. Now I'm hungry. Hmmmmmm, I need some potatoes.

Scott Davis-I never thought about the Ebay aspect of it. I just hate to part with money if I don't feel that I have all of the information. I don't buy a lot on Amazon but whenever I do order, it is always a thought if I should sign up or not.

Sonya Ann said...

Shinny-I drove passed the new warehouse the other day, it is MASSIVE!!! I even told Den that we should be able to get our orders super quick once it is open. Do you know when that will be?
I haven't been purchasing much online lately. I seem to go in spurts. Everything and then nothing.
UGH don't mention Christmas, I haven't saved much for it lately.

Sonya Ann said...

sluggy-I think the same thing would probably happen with me. I would forget about it and only remember when the yearly charge showed up on the credit card statement.

Sonya Ann said...

Jill-I should just try it for the 30 days and see how it works out. Maybe I should wait until its Christmas time before signing up, that way I would get my presents shipped for free. Hmmmm, I might be on to something.

Cheapchick-I snickered a bit at your comment. The US pulls stupid crap too and it can really get under your skin when you hear about how it is so much better in other areas.

I have Prime and love it. My adult kids and families live far from me and we never spend Christmas with the Portland crew. It is so nice and much cheaper to send the granddaughter gifts direct from Amazon rather than me buying them here and shipping them there. (I do have a secret pact with my son. I only have anything that might be for him sent wrapped, then he does all the other wrapping saving me the wrapping fees).

Son3 goes to school in New York. He has ordered several text books that were substantially cheaper than anywhere else and they ship directly to him free.

I don't think it causes me to spend more, but I think I am buying smarter. I do look at the deals of the day and have made purchases from them, but only if it is on my list of things we need anyway. I also am buying several things using their Subscribe and Save option. We use toilet paper every day here and I am getting it through Amazon 9 cents a roll cheaper than my lowest price + coupon price that I have found here. Yearly that is a hunk of change that is literally not going down the drain. Same for a couple of other things I use regularly. It is almost time for ours to renew and I definitely will renew it.

However, it is possible I might have made a couple of impulse purchases that we did not really NEED but we love having. (I mean who doesn't need a hammock chair on their porch, and if not for the deal of the day I would never have known it existed)

I love the potatoes cooked that way! Amazon Prime is good if you don't go shopping outside the house much, which is why I got it. I really need it at birthday and Christmas time.

We love potatoes cooked that way. Probably too much.
I have been resisting Amazon Prime. Amazon doesn't do things for my good, but for theirs...

I am taking bets which was more toasty, you or the taters! hehehe

SAM said...

Sorry, no help on the Amazon Prime-only used for the two week trial right about Christmas and figured I would only order occasinally anyway. I do like your potato recipe. I think I will copy it, for potatoes, for soup, for roasts, for pasta, breakfast cereal..

I have Prime. I love it. I use Amazon a lot because I hate going out shopping. If I need something, I order it, and I don't have to wait until I need enough stuff to meet the minimum free shipping requirement. I don't think I order more. I think I order more easily. They even deliver orders on Sundays. Did you put cheese on the friend potatoes? Some grated cheddar sounds good to me. I think I want to make those potatoes this weekend and drink a bottle of wine.

Looking forward to getting toasted and in love with Prime,
Janie

Oi! I'm so embarrassed. I wrote friend potatoes instead of fried. Well, I suppose the potatoes and I will be friends.

I also like it that I can order something and have it delivered quickly to someone else at no extra charge.

I have Amazon Prime and I think it's a great value. I buy a lot of things online simply because it's cheaper and super convenient. Free two day shipping and no tax is great when you consider the local sales tax here is 10%. It saves time and gas. Plus we gave up cable so AP is our main source for TV entertainment along with a $7.99 a month subscription to HuluPlus. Between the two, there's always something to watch.

Congratulations on finding the key to making a great meal! For myself, I have trouble fixing more than 3 items (this doesn't count the wine of course). It's not a pretty picture - but I will keep practicing. This reminded me of "My Drunk Kitchen" on you tube. That girl has probably made a million on those videos. Ahhh, another missed opportunity. I love your blog!!

I love Amazon Prime. I use it for my business and for the household needs. I find prices are comparable or better than I can find in the store for most items I purchase, and sometimes I choose to NOT use the free 2 day shipping and accept a slower free method, in turn receiving a $1.00 credit which I bank up for kindle books/movie purchases. My house also uses the media portion of the prime account for movies and music. We also have the Amazon personal assistant (we chose to name our tower Alexis not Amazon) and I can ask her to play music that I enjoy or what the weather is today. We are very happy with our Amazon prime account and find it well worth the money.

I am binging on a tv series on Amazon Prime RIGHT NOW! I love Amazon Prime for the free 2 day shipping. I think I order more than we did before we had Prime, but that is because I order stuff that I used to go to stores for. Stuff like cat litter. I found some on Amazon that is cheaper than what I could find at any store, works better than any other I have tried and it is delivered right to my door. Can't beat not having to lug cat litter. Hubby and I always make sure that the prices are comparable to what we can find in stores. And ordering from Amazon saves us some money by keeping us OUT of stores. Who can walk into Walmart and just buy a bottle of vitamins. But I can order just that from Amazon. I guess because you can get to the checkout without passing 90 million things you didn't know you needed.

Definitely try out the free trial for holiday shopping. That is what we did.

Anne in the kitchen-I think everyone needs a hammock chair. LOL.
There is a site called Mashup Mom and she is from the chitown area and she lists all the best deals that she finds on Amazon and it seems that she lists a lot of tp deals. What I guess I really need to do is price match what I am getting in the stores and what it would be with Amazon. DJ has an Amazon account. I wonder if I could use it. The problem is I don't know if it is tied in to his school. I'm sure that I can ship to different addresses with it. Hmmm, I think I have a lot of things to look into. He tried to install it on my kindle but we never could get it to work. I was trying to watch the shows/movies. He works as a tech guy during the summer at the school., you would think that he could manage it. LOL
Thank you so much for your help. I really am leaning towards it.

Sonya Ann said...

MiserlyMac-Do you sometimes find better deals on Amazon? Like crazy cheaper or just a little bit.

Sonya Ann said...

Elephant's Child-Hahaha, I snickered at they are doing things for their benefit. Yes, they are.

Sonya Ann said...

sluggy-You will be happy to know that I spend a lot of time being toasty.

Sonya Ann said...

SAM-Drink, cook, drink, cook, drink, drink, drink. I think it is a real recipe.

Sonya Ann said...

Janie Junebug-Buying in bulk like tp and paper towels would probably make it worth it. Maybe I would save enough in costs and gas to make back the money for the yearly fee.
We didn't put cheese on it but YUM! We might need to make that happen.

Sonya Ann said...

Janie Junebug-I thought you might be drinking while typing which is something that I completely encourage.

Sonya Ann said...

Janie Junebug-I'm thinking that everyone has me sold on it. BUt before I sign up, I'm going to try and get DJ to log on and see if I can use his account.

Sonya Ann said...

We are: Clamco-We are at $3.17 a gallon of gas now so it looks like we will be cutting back on how much we drive. I'm just hoping that it doesn't keep going up. Yeah, I can wish and hope but it will continue.
I just wish that I could type in my grocery list and get the cheapest prices and get everything delivered. I dream a bit too much.

Sonya Ann said...

Anonymous-Thank you for loving the blog and not judging me for drinking while trying to cook. I normally get really stressed out when I have to cook so the vino really does help take the edge off.

Sonya Ann said...

Ms. Sandie-I have never heard of the personal assistant. It sounds so futuristic. LOL
I'm just wondering if I would spend more time on all of it though. I just throw what we need in the cart and I'm done. Do you think that it is helping you save time?

Sonya Ann said...

Frances-I swear that cat litter is getting heavier. I will never say that I am getting weaker. LOL
I hate lugging the cat food and cans in. It might be worth it just for that alone.
We are binge watching continuum. I'm giving it 2 thumbs up on the sci-fi charts.
