Den's Meat

Do you love meat? Does your man love meat? Well, has Den got the thing for you- A MEATBOWL!
He saw this online and had to make it.
Den was so excited about this that he took pictures of it so that I could post about it. I didn't even ask him to do it. He just said that he knew that I would want to post about it.
You smash a hamburger patty(anywhere from a half pound to a pound of meat) around a cup/glass/beer can and then wrap it with bacon.
You then fill the meatbowls with something. Den filled them with mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms and onions. You could put just about anything in them. Spaghetti sauce, stuffing, the possibilities are endless.
Then grill them slowly and off to the side so they don't burn. But we were talking and this would work in the oven too.
These were so so so good. And now we know why I am fat!!!! It's Den and his meat.
Lovin' meat,
Sonya Ann

Wow, he did such a great job, not only cooking, but taking photos for this post. They look very hearty and delicious. I use a lot of ground chicken and ground turkey which would probably work well too. Can you cook the meat bowls first and then fill them with something afterwards? Like pasta or grilled veggies?

sluggy-You would love it too.

We are: Clamco-He was so excited about this. I did read that people were making it with ground turkey. We thought that stuffing would be awesome in it.
I'm sure that you could cook it and add stuff later. We were thinking about cooking it with spaghetti sauce in it then serving it on a bed of noodles. That would be fun.

OMG it looks so tasty! I am a gigantic bacon fan - a reason why I could certainly shed a pound or two :)

lol! Vegetarians just don't know what they're missing!!!

YUM...

And who's to say you'd gain weight with this?? Anyone hear of the Atkin's Diet? Mostly meat.

This is right up my brothers' alley. Two of them say (loudly and often) that vegetables are the garnish to put on your plate to make the meat look even better.
And it reminded me of the footgirl girlfriends of my yoof who would cater for after game barbecues and meet the players with the chant 'pleased to see you, with meat to please you'. Urk.

Den needs to put away his meat and not show it in public.

I saw bacon bowls. The person had scrambled eggs and served them in the bacon bowls. It's nice he helped you with your blog.

I am so going to make meat bowls just so I can say I did it.

Cheapchick-The hamburger had a smokey and a bacon taste to it. Oh it was so so good. I'm hungry again.

Cheryl-This is a make again. Den was so pleased with himself after this. He told everyone about it. Wish he could get that excited about cleaning the house.

McVal-This felt fattening when I ate it if that makes any sense at all. But I would do it again. And again. And again.
I like meat and all but I don't think I could live on mostly meat. I would get a headache. If I overdo it on any one type of food I get headaches. I'm so odd.

Elephant's Child-I'm going to tell Den what your brothers say. I'm sure he will add the phrase to his vocabulary.
I had a yoof once, it seems to be in a time very long ago. I never talked to ballers like that. Seems like they would get the wrong idea.

Janie Junebug-But he was/is so proud of it.

Sonya Ann said...

ChiTown Girl-Just cook it slow, that's the key or so I have heard.

Sonya Ann said...

Donna Freedman-I always thought that if I guy did that someone should rename it with say the name princess or something like that.

Practical Parsimony-Thank you, my dear, I think has a new project for this weekend. BACON BOWLS!!!!!!

Sonya Ann said...

Anne in the kitchen-I'm thinking that we need to make bacon bowls next. Anything with bacon is the best. And now Im hungry.

I have seen the bacon bowl molds/forms. Clearly, Den does not need no stinking mold.

Tell him I really enjoyed the pictures of his meat!

Frances-Hahaha. I have a terrible cold and I'm losing/lost my voice. I laughed at your comment but it sounded more like I was choking. Sad thing is no one in the house came to check on me.
