Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

This is an interesting read over at the Penny Hoarder. It is about a new service that helps you get reimbursed if you are bumped off of a flight. At first, I thought it wasn't such a great idea but if you are denied your claim then they will go after the airline for you for a 25% fee if they collect. Actually, this is probably worth it. What do you think?

I have only ever been bumped off of flights that were voluntary - they start giving away credits and up the ante until they get the appropriate number of seats per humans(hopefully humans, but sometimes you wonder). We only have a couple of Canadian carriers and most of them don't overbook the flights as a guarantee - other than Air Canada which totally sucketh.

What a brilliant idea. Mind you, I suspect that in a perverse way it will encourage the airlines NOT to pay compensation. Lots of people won't use the service (don't know about it) and the company wins in those cases.
Yours, bathing in cynicism...

Cheapchick-We fly out of Chicago and to say that a mad house there is a complete understatement. People get bumped all of the time. That said the only time I have been bumped was while I was in Vegas and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me! I scored free flights and they put me up in my fav hotel. But my bestie's hub had some problems with an international flight and he had to fight for them just to follow government guidelines. So I could see how this could be a needed tool.

Elephant's Child-I can see how it is completely frustrating to deal with them. My SIL and BIL are fighting to get free vouchers because their vacation was cancelled due to a hurricane. And they paid for the damned insurance!!!!!
