Makin' It And Savin' It Sunday

I love poking around at the Penny Hoarder. Honestly, anything that can save me a buck or two has my attention. And according to the article, "Have a Costco or Sam's Club Membership? Here's how to get your money's worth" I have been pissing money away! DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET A DISCOUNT ON LIQUOR!?!?!?!?! Dear God, the money that I have wasted.
Do you shop at Costco or Sam's? Do you think that you are saving money by going there? Oh and my MIL has a membership to both, I think I will be going with her to get alcohol save money.
Cocktail hour,
Sonya Ann

We don't have either but we've thought about it. I wonder how much you can really save on liquor.

It appears from the article that some states say they must sell you liquor without a card. I live 50 miles from Sam's or Costco. I do have a friend with whom I can shop. However, he just picks up what I need. I rarely ask him to get anything. But, he bought me the generic Zyrtec--480 tablets for something like $17. They were in a huge bottle and also a tiny one.

I has Sam's for three years-stretched out to help with graduation party and an anniversary party cost, but other than that didn't use it much, so let it expire after the third year ran out. With just three of us, I can't see that we would buy enough to warrant the savings over card costs, but I'll read the article to find out.

when I got my Sam's club membership I did go in and price match to what I could get each item I buy on the outside to their price. Not many were significantly cheaper but a few were....except the quantity that I had to buy was mostly too large for us as we couldn't go through enough of it before it spoiled(talking fresh produce here). And since we are PITA PA they aren't allowed to sell liquor....sucks BIGTIME! lolz

The good buys were OTC drugs and such and that chest freezer I bought.

We don't have SAMS, and only recently got COSTCO. Himself loves it, I find it overwhelming. Last time he was there he bought a HUGE bunch of asparagus (which he doesn't eat). NOT a good buy. Most of that huge bunch was sad, soggy and inedible... He should have stuck to booze.

Depends on what state/county you live in. I know that here in TN wine and hard liquor isn't allowed to be sold in anything that's not a liquor store.

I saw a Sam's Club off in the distance when I was out with my son one day. We might have Costco, too. I don't join because most of the time I cook for one. I don't need a large quantity of anything, and I don't want to drive too far to do my shopping. It would take me quite a while to get to Sam's Club. I hope you find great savings when you go.

Love,
Janie

We used to have both Sam's and Costco, but gave up Sam's this year. For me the biggest savings is at the gas pump. They are routinely 8 cents a gallon cheaper and since Costco is close to my house and by places I shop regularly, it is easy to stop and fill up there. TheHub has to buy several Christmas gifts for business and it is a great place to pick up gift cards for restaurants and things. Starbucks cards there are 5 $20 dollar cards for $80. There are many restaurants with 2 $50 cards for 75-80 dollars, so that is a pretty big savings. (Glad these are work related and compensated)
